Since Darry had the car I walked to the school. I knew the bell rang at 3:10. I waited sitting on the steps of the school. Soon, kids started flooding from the doors. I spotted Ponyboy talking to a blonde haired girl as they started heading my way. Ponyboy ended their conversation with a laugh and he looked at me.

"Hey Summer! Can I go over to Olivia's house?" Ponyboy asked with a bright smile. For a second I was speechless and just stared at the green-eyed girl.

"Uh, yeah, sure..." I answered with a fake smile. I was surprised he hadn't have noticed my out-of-line jaw.

"Thanks! Don't forget to tell Soda where I am! I'll walk home!" Ponyboy exclaimed before walking away with the Olivia girl. I frowned as he turned his head towards her. I sighed walking down the steps and out into the streets. I started to head towards the greasers' park. I climbed on top of the monkey bars and sat down. I looked around boredly before I glanced at a couple of socs. I put my hood up with a scowl. I reach in my pocket and gripped onto my switchblade. Crap... I thought.

"Hey greaser!" Yelled a soc as their gang got out of the car. They looked a different direction besides mine. I looked up. My heart began to race. Soda was out wandering. Probably looking for Pony and I. We usually raced home. I slid off of the monkey bars and landed on the ground.

"You better watch it!" Sodapop spat. He was all alone.

"Nah, you better watch it," Another soc scowled.

"Is that a threat?" Soda asked with a snarl.

"Maybe, maybe not," the third soc grinned.

"Bring it!" I yelled from afar. Their heads turned towards me. Sodapop must've noticed I was there. What he probably didn't notice that it was me.

"Alright, you have a challenge greasers!" The lead smirked. I raced over towards them. I stood at Soda's side. My face was covered by my hood.

"Show your face!" The fourth soc insisted stepping forward. I hesitated and pulled off my hood.

     "Summer?" Sodapop asked.

"What's a girl gonna do!" The fifth soc snorted.

"A lot," I said flipping out my switch. The blade pointed towards them.

"Even better! The girl has a switch!" The second soc chuckled. I swiped my blade against the teens skin quickly. I pulled away as the curly haired kid looked at his arm in shock. I nodded to myself. It was a pretty clean cut.

"You think you're big, bad, and tough, girly?" The blonde soc smirked.

     "I don't think. I know," I smirked.

"We'll change that," the lead nodded. Sodapop quickly snatched a nearby Coke bottle and busted the end of it. Three socs brought out blades, the fourth soc showed off a rope, and the final got a busted bottle. I sliced one of the soc's cheeks to start the fight. The lead charged at me and we wrestled to the ground. I was suddenly pinned by three socs. The one with the rope wrapped it around my neck. I split a clean cut through the thin rope and sat up. I kicked the lead as he grunted. The other two socs held my arms down. Soon I felt pressure off of my right arm. I swung a punch at the curly haired soc and stood up. The lead then knocked me over onto the ground. I scowled and pinned him. I held my switch at his neck putting slight pressure. "Give it up!" I snapped. He tried sitting up, but I pinned him back down. I pushed my blade against his neck slightly harder. "I SAID FLEE! BACK OFF!" I yelled much more harshly.

"F-fine!" He choked struggling to breathe.

"Good!" I mumbled dragging my switch away. Four members, including the lead, fled towards the car and drove away.

"W-WAIT!" The kid with the busted bottle called out. I chased him and knocked him down. I held his arms down and sat on his chest.

"You can't escape me!" I scoffed. Sodapop rushed over and leaned down next to me.

"Soc!" Soda yelled spitting at the kid.

"I-I-I-I'm s-sorry!" The smaller kid yelped. "I-I was just f-f-following my brother!" He said wincing.

"I'll let you go," I scoffed letting him up. He stood up and ran off. I winced as I stood up. My side hurt. I looked down and saw the huge tear in my shirt. I more have gotten stabbed than cut because of how deep the wound was. I hid my wound with my arm so Sodapop wouldn't notice.

     "Where's Ponyboy?" He asked quickly.

He doesn't care about you. Just family.

     Shut up!

"Um... He is at a friend's," I replied. "He'll be home soon," I sighed.

     "Are you ok?" Soda asked.

"I'm fine," I lied. "Let's just go home!" I huffed. I took his hand and we walked home. I sat on the couch carelessly. Before I knew it blood covered the couch, my shirt, and my hand. Then all I saw was darkness.
