Soda pulled away from the kiss. "Was that too much proof?" He asked wide-eyed.

I smiled. "Nah..." I said in a slight high pitched voice.

Soda cracked a wide grin. "We should go inside.." he sighed. He stood up and held out his hand to help me.

I gripped onto his hand with mine. I got up and reach for the door knob. Soda pushed my hand away and opened the door himself. He dipped his head and I walked in. Soda followed me and closed the door behind him... We acted as if nothing happened. I sat down on the couch and yawned.

"Well of course! Good ol' Soda can make anyone smile," Ponyboy chuckled.

     I smirked and nodded, "That's a fact!"

"Summer, did your stitches come loose?" Darry called to me.

"Uh... No!" I lied with slightly widened eyes.

"Explain the bloody bandage in the trashcan that looks like yours!" Darry snorted as he walked past me. He sat back in the chair waiting for a reply.

I rolled my eyes with a sigh. "Fine! My stitches came loose! So what?" I frowned.

"You could get extremely hurt! You could possibly bleed out!" Sodapop exclaimed.

"At least my mother would be happy..." I shrugged.

     "We wouldn't..." Ponyboy said.

I rolled my eyes, "Why do y'all like me so much? I thought you hated socs!"

Darry shrugged and relaxed in the chair. Ponyboy hesitated, "You give great advice, you're also very nice..."

Soda leaned back into the couch with a yawn. "What Pony said... And more..." He pointed out.

"And what's the 'more', Sodapop Curtis?" I asked with a smirk.

"There's too much 'more' to name them all off..." Soda shrugged with a smile.

"Right..." I chuckled rolling my eyes. Steve and Two-bit walked into the house carelessly. Steve lazily sat on the couch beside Soda and Two-bit sat on the floor.

"Hey Darry, there's a tuff car out there... The woman inside was crazy!!! She was talking about her daughter and so and so..." Steve said as he lit a cigarette.

I cursed under my breath and stood up. I walked towards the door and placed my hand on the cold knob.

"Wait, do you know who, Summer?" Darry asked sitting up.

"I don't want y'all to get hurt... My mom is here to get me, and she'll take anyone out of her way..." I sighed softly. Before they could say a word I turned the door knob and stepped outside. I trotted down the steps and opened the car door. I sat in the passenger seat without a word and slammed the door.

"Where were you!! I heard you cut Eric, Summer... When we get home I'll give you a lesson! And don't you ever do that again!" My mom screamed.

"Not if I give you one first..." I grumbled.

"You are a soc! Not a greaser!" She snorted.

My hands twitched and shook in anger. The word rang in my ears... 'You are a soc! Not a greaser!'... "IS THAT ALL YOU CAN SAY?!" I snapped. "You're a soc this! Not a greaser that! I bet you didn't care that dad was a hoodlum!!!" I yelled. My mother had slapped me across my face.

"Shut your trap!!!! You have never talked your father like that and you want start!!!" She snapped.

"Then leave me and my greaser friends alone!!!! Ya know what? I'm movin' out, I'm now labeling MYSELF a greaser!!!" I yelled. I opened the car door and got out before slamming it. I rushed up the steps and opened the door. I hurried inside an closed the door, locking it. I turned around to the gang as they looked at me oddly. "Change of plans, can I stay here for awhile?" I asked with fake giggling here and there.

Darry shrugged, "Is that all you need?"

I shook my head rapidly. "Lock the door for a couple of nights!" I panted.

"Can do!" Soda smiled. He turned to Steve and they continued to chat. Of course Two-bit stole the couch so I sat on the floor next to Ponyboy.

"Hey Pony!" I greeted. I held out my hand for a fist bump... Then went along. "So, anything buggin' ya?" I asked in concern... I didn't know why I asked that, I guess he it's because he's like a kid brother to me...

     "No... Why?" Ponyboy replied curious.

"Just wanted to make sure you were ok..." I said.

     "Ok...?" He sighed.

"Hey I heard there's a good movie at the drive-in! Anyone wanna go?" Steve asked suddenly.

     "Nah..." Darry replied.

     "Sure..." Two-bit shrugged carelessly.

     "Why not?" I replied cheerfully.

"I'll pass..." Pony sighed. I turned my head to the youngest Curtis brother and looked at him oddly.

"What's wrong, Ponyboy... You love the movies!" Soda exclaimed.

"I dunno I just... I guess I'm not feelin' it..." Ponyboy sighed.

"Ok... I'll go to the movie and tell what happens if ya want..." Soda offered.

     "Sure..." He sighed again.

"Ok...?" Soda said warily. I looked at Soda worriedly. Something WAS wrong with Ponyboy... He didn't want to talk about it though. I'll try again tomorrow if it's still bugging him. I thought to myself. I yawned and laid on the floor oddly... The couch was full so I slept on the carpet tonight...
