I might as well just have stood there while she beat me... Struggling only made my fresh wounds worse. Now I was lying on the floor, bleeding out. It hurt, my wounds were already throbbing. I felt a strong kick in my stomach. I gagged and just about threw up. I curled up into a tight ball. My hands covered my head.
"YOU DON'T LEAVE MY SIGHT!!!" My mother yelled. "YOU. ARE. A. SOC!" She scowled.
I hated that sentence. That was my least favorite sentence in the whole entire world and she knew it. I suddenly stood up, grabbed the teddy bear Sodapop got me, and rushed upstairs. I ran into my room and locked the door. I cursed under my breath and pulled out my switchblade.
Cut yourself...
What. No!
You know you want to...
Shut up!
It's true...
Wha- go away!
I scowled as I fought against my thoughts. I snorted and started out towards the window. I opened it with a CLICK! I looked down towards the ground. It wasn't THAT far; I thought to myself. I shrugged; what could it hurt? I threw my leg out and held on to the bear. I climbed out the window and my feet plunged to the ground. My ankles stung, but I began to dart towards the other side of the neighborhood. I took a sharp turn into an alley and sat on a bench. I laid down on the hard cold bench and closed my eyes tightly. I held the bear tight as a strong breeze battered against my skin. It took forever but I finally fell asleep. I'm still surprised I didn't get hypothermia that night.

I woke up wrapped in a nice warm substance. I opened my eyes, a blanket? I sat up and looked around. I narrowed my eyes. "Dang it Sodapop..." I whispered. Darry came into the living room and glared at me.
"Don't you ever break my brother's heart like that again!" He scowled pointing a finger to me. I rolled my eyes. I didn't even choose to come back. "And 'that Sandy' is his pregnant ex- girlfriend..." Darry added.
"I'm sorry he left a note for his ex-girlfriend layin' around. That still hurts to even think about it," I huffed. I looked around and lifted the blanket. The bear... Where was the dang bear?!
"Apparently not enough to forget about this," Darry smirked holding the teddy bear above his head by the arm.
"Give me that!" I scowled standing up. I jumped in the air trying to grab the bear. "Darrel Curtis! You dang traitor!!!" I growled reaching as high as I could. I crossed my arms and snarled. "Give it back!" I huffed.
"Aw, come on, Darry... Leave her alone..." A voice insisted. I looked over, Soda...
Darry gave me the bear and whispered, "This conversation isn't over with!" I gulped nervously.
Soda walked over to me. He picked me up and held me close to his chest. "I'm sorry love bug," he whispered. Love bug? That's the first... "I'm sorry I broke your heart... I did mean to! It was just an old letter! I promise, I'm over with Sandy! I-I love you..." He explained. He loved me? I froze with a smile. I hugged him tightly and inhaled his gasoline like scent.
"I love you too," I whispered with a huge smile.
