Chapter 26

"Hey," Adele said as she walked out of the grocery store pushing the trolley towards her car.

"Hey Del, how are you doing?" Laura asked.

"I'm great, what about you?" she said as she stopped the trolley and popped open the trunk to place her groceries inside.

"I'm great as well," Laura said.

"I was wondering," Adele started.

"Wondering what?" Laura asked curiously.

"If you would like to come over for dinner tonight with my mum, Simon, and I," she said.

"Oh, I'd love to, but let me just check if I'll be able to make it, yes, I will, at what time?" Laura asked.

"Okay, great," she smiled.

"Mum! You're here," Adele said as she ran up to her mum before hugging her.

"Is dinner ready? I'm starving baby," her mum said as she let her go.

"Almost, in about half an hour, Simon is still cooking," she chuckled.

"Del babe, have you gained some weight?" her mum asked.

"Why? Is it a bad thing?" she asked.

"No not at all, but I'm not necessarily sure if it's that or something else," her mum said as she slightly laughed.

"Well I wouldn't know," she laughed as she motions for her mum to sit on the sofa.

"How are you feeling?" her mum asked.

"I'm great, why do you ask?" she asked suspiciously.

"I don't know, there's just something different about you, and I can't quite pin point what it is exactly," she said.

"That's weird," she laughed before the doorbell rang.

"Coming," she said as she walked to the door.

Laura stood there before she engulfed her best friend in a huge bear hug.

"It smells good," Laura said as she let go of her.

"Hey," Daniel said as he shook Adele's hand.

"Adele? Babe," Simon yelled from the kitchen.

"Yeah?" Adele asked as she walked into the kitchen before Daniel and Laura went into the living room with Adele's mum.

"My family is coming over as well, is it fine?" Simon asked.

"Oh of course, who is coming?" she asked.

"My mom, dad, and my sister, the youngest," he said.

"That's fine," she laughed before he stomach growled causing Simon to burst out laughing.

"Is my little baby hungry huh?" Simon laughed as he put his hand against her tummy.

"Very funny, you better hurry up with that food, we're hungry," she said pointing down to her tummy.

"Yes ma'am," Simon laughed before pecking her lips.

Simon finished up dinner and set up the table where now everyone sat. Conversations were exchanged as they all enjoyed the dinner Simon had prepared for them.

After dessert Adele and Simon nervously stood up. Simon gently squeezed her hand before she smiled.

"We have gathered all of you tonight to give you guys a very important announcement," Simon started before all of their attention was on them. They all looked at them confused before they let them say their announcement.

"I am so excited to let you all know that Simon and I are expecting our new bundle of joy," she smiled as she grabbed a hold of Simon's wrist.

Everyone sat in silence completely shocked before they happily congratulated the couple.

"I also have another announcement," Simon said as he took a small velvet box out of her pocket and got down on one knee.

Everyone cheered happily as she put her hands up to her face covering her mouth before she began crying.

"Will you Adele Laurie Blue Adkins make me the happiest man alive by letting me be able to call you my wife, will you marry me?" he asked smiling.

"Yes," she nodded hugging him before she kissed his lips and he put the ring on her ring finger.

They once again congratulated the couple before they ended up leaving.

"Take care of my niece or nephew," Laura said as she kissed Adele goodbye putting her hand on her tummy.

"I will," she laughed as walked to their car.

She locked the door before turning around to Simon standing behind her.

"I love you," she smiled as he rested his hands on her hips.

"I love you more," he said kissing her lips.

"I can't believe we're having a baby, and are engaged, it all seems like a dream," she said as she rested her head against Simon's chest.

"Me either, I still remember when we first met, you always being the smart ass you are, when you would just call me sir, and now I got you pregnant," he said slightly chuckling.

"I didn't like you at the beginning," she laughed.

"Why?" He asked laughing.

"You acted so mean, it was stupid, when in reality you are such a good guy," she laughed before kissing him.

"You're funny," he said before kissing her cheek.
