Simon had just arrived from the airport and quickly ran to get his luggage before heading out to get picked up by his driver.
"Get me there as fast as possible," he said as he sat down in the car worriedly.
Hours earlier he had received a phone call which Adele had been having really bad contractions. Laura had taken her to the hospital where they had her in a room. Her mom had purchased a ticket last minute to San Francisco.
Simon finally arrived and ran inside. He asked for Adele and was told which room she was in. He went into the elevator and headed to the floor she was in before heading to her room.
She was laying on the bed with her eyes half closed as Laura sat on the bed holding her hand.
"Babe," Simon said as he walked towards her. She smiled at him as he went up to her and kissed her lips.
"I missed you so much, I'm sorry you had to come back early, but the little one was giving his mummy a hard time," she smiled.
"He's coming a few weeks early?" Simon asked.
"I guess so, he's pretty impatient," she said.
"How dilated are you?" Simon asked.
"Three centimeters," she said.
"He's really coming," Simon said.
"Very early as well," she said.
"Did the doctor tell you why?" he asked as he stroked her hair.
"He said it is probably because we didn't wait about 18 months to conceive again," she said.
•••
She had been in labor for 11 hours before getting epidural. She then laid in bed resting as Simon sat by her side."Only 5 more centimeters and he will be ready to come out," Simon said to her as he held her in his arms.
"I'm scared," she admitted.
"Don't be baby," he reassured her.
"We've been through this before, it'll all be worth it soon, we'll have our healthy baby boy in a few hours," Simon said.
A few hours later Adele's mum showed up and sat down on the sofa in the room watching over Adele an constantly asking if she was alright before taking a nap due to the long flight she had.
A few hours later as Adele slept she felt a contraction go through her abdomen.
"Simon," she said waking Simon up who quickly woke up.
Right when he did the nurse walked in to check up on her.
"You're all set to start pushing, are you ready?" she asked.
"Yes, of course," she said before a couple more doctors came into the room.
Her mom then woke up and watched from the sofa as they propped her legs up.
"Okay, we are going to have you give us some trial pushes," the nurse said.
She pushed a couple of times.
"Good," the doctor said each time she did.
"Alright now we are going to start with the longer pushes," the nurse said.
"Push for me," the doctor said.
"Good pushes honey, c'mon keep going, okay stop " the doctor said as Adele pushed before she threw her head back.
"C'mon you can do this babe I love you," Simon said reassuringly as he squeezed her hand and kissed her forehead.
She gave a few more pushed before the baby's head crowned.
"Give me a few more pushes, he's almost out," the doctor said.
The nurse made her sit up as she pushed.
"Watch your baby come out," the nurse said as Adele pushed one last time before she heard the cries she had longed to hear for almost 9 months.
She began crying as she held her baby against her chest. Tears began to form in Simon eyes as he watched her hold their child who immediately stopped crying when he was placed against Adele's chest.
"Would you like to cut the umbilical cord dad?" The doctor asked.
Simon then cut the umbilical cord before Adele had to deliver the placenta which took about 15 minutes.
The baby was weighed and measured before being handed to Simon for skin to skin. Which Adele had requested.
"Hi baby, I love you so much," Simon said as he held him against his chest. The baby just stared at him with his huge green orbs.
Adele had to then feed the baby. She was so surprised at how fast and easy he latched on.
"He was hungry," Simon laughed as he looked at the baby getting breastfed.
"Yes he was," she smiled.
After she burped him she changed him into a onesie she had bought at target and put on the small beanie the nurse had given the baby.
"He's so quiet and calm," she whispered as she held the baby who calmly slept in her arms.
"Thank you," Simon said.
"For what?" she laughed.
"For bringing our beautiful son into this world, I love you," Simon said.
"I love you too," she smiled pecking his lips.
•••
"He's beautiful," Laura smiled as she held the baby.Adele sat down on the sofa and smiled as Laura stroked the baby's face. He wrinkled up his nose before he began crying.
"Oh no," Laura said as she rocked him before handing him to Adele. When she did he automatically stopped crying.
"He's smart," Laura said as she pointed at the baby causing Adele to laugh.
"I was the first person he saw," she laughed.
"I was the fifth what difference does that make?" she asked causing Adele to chuckle before Simon walked into the room.
"Where is my baby boy," Simon said as he took the baby from Adele arms and kissed his small nose as he slept.
"Simon, you're so annoying," Adele laughed.
"How?" He asked.
"You keep taking my baby from me," she laughed.
"You would not have a baby if it wasn't for me," he said as she rolled her eyes playfully and walked towards him before kissing the baby's cheek.
