---Error's POV----

We all froze, watching as the goose launched itself at Nightmare, hissing and flapping.

Nightmare let out another shriek as it bit onto his ankle again, kicking frantically as its beak dug into his dark bone. "GET IT OFF!"

The goose screeched before flapping off of Nightmare and over to the river bank, where we then got a clear view of it.

It was your typical Canadian Goose. Dark grey beak with black feathers running from its head down to the bottom of its neck. It had the classic white strip marking under its eyes, and its belly was also white. The rest of its feathers -including the wings- were a soft chocolate brown colour.

It actually looked rather cute for a goose. It had extremely fluffy feathers, giving it a plush and cute look. But as we just saw, that thing is vicious.

It glared at us all disapprovingly, fluffing up its wings before letting out a loud honk, its expression turning from irritated to proud. It had obviously enjoyed Nightmares reaction to being attacked.

"That thing's crazy!" Nightmare hissed, rubbing his bitten ankle softly with a hand.

Cross fussed over Nightmare quickly before glancing over at the goose, tilting his head to the side. "I think you just stepped too close to his territory..."

"Too close to its territory?! It's territory is the river! A river is water! I hate water!" Nightmare yelled.

The goose honked loudly, eyeing us all up.

"Maybe he thought you were gonna go into the water? There's no way he couldn't have known you don't like water, so he protected his territory." Cross suggested, smiling weakly.

"Why are you calling it a he?" I called, eyeing up the goose. "It could be a girl."

Cross glanced at me, rolling his eyes. "Because that's his female, right there."

I blinked, looking over at where he was pointing.

There, stood by the bank, eyeing us up curiously, was another goose. It was a bit smaller than the other one, and instead of having the same markings of the other goose, it was white. It probably used to be snow white, but now it almost seemed grey, its feathers slightly ruffled. Even just by looking, I could tell she was a female.

"Alright then." I muttered, crossing my arms over my chest. "So what's their problem?"

We all looked at the geese, seeming to forget our whole current situation of trying to find X's base.

On closer inspection, the white goose looked much thinner than her partner. In fact, she looked pretty starved.

"Sh-She's hungry..." Cross muttered, edging closer to the two geese. "She's starving...do we have any food for them?"

I sighed, glancing at the others. "Uh, as horrible as this sounds...we can't really waste what little food we have on some rogue geese."

Cross glared at me, narrowing his eyes. "Oh I'm sorry you value your own life over other innocents. Maybe that would explain why you did what you did to me without hesitation." He hissed the last bit, challenging me.

I froze, my whole body tensing up. Cross hadn't told Nightmare what I'd done yet. And if he exposed me now, I'd be dead in seconds.

Nightmare looked between us questioningly, protectively wrapping his arms around Cross' waist. "What did he do to you?"
