---Nightmare's POV----

I lead the way through the ashy, black expanse, Cross close by my side.

The kids all followed closely, Incubux and NiXss reassuring Moonlight and Noah, and Blue was reassuring his kid Sprinkle, and Horror's kid Desire.

Cross had Eph in his arms, subconsciously petting our sleeping child as he walked, a worried frown etched across his face. He was constantly muttering to no one at the moment. I'm assuming that means Chara is active.

We all sped up slightly as the forest signalling the way to Craitown's boarder came up. Soon we'd be in Craitown. Just a few more hours.

We all paused for a moment before stepping into the shady woods, all ten of us tipping our heads back to look up at the green canopy of trees above us.

Unlike the forest in the ash land, this one is actually alive, and has bright colours. Birds and squirrels flew and jumped from tree to tree, and the occasional butterfly would flutter over.

"Pretty..." Noah whispered, looking around.

I rolled my eye and started walking again, already knowing the route back. "We need to keep moving. X could be right behind us for all we know. He can hide in so many places in this forest, so we need to get through as fast as we possibly can."

The rest of them quickly followed, nodding at my words.

"Daaaaadddd?" Moonlight whined, tugging on my arm. "Are we gonna join up with your old gang again?"

I sighed, nodding. "Yes moonlight, we are."

"How will we find them?" Incubux muttered. "We don't even know if they broke Error out. And I know you haven't forgotten what that guy said about the hunt being back on for Cross with the Lilitown asylum people."

I flinched, one of my tentacles subconsciously wrapping around Cross' wrist at the mention of the asylum being after him again.

Cross stepped closer to me, his mismatched eyes looking into my one. "W-Well we'll just h-have to be careful."

I nodded, wrapping an arm around his waist. "I won't let them get you Cross...I promise..."

He smiled weakly and nodded, resting his head against my shoulder lightly as we walked.

I took Eph from him and took my turn holding him so that Cross could hug my arm as we walked, his grip worryingly tight.

"Come on guys." I said. "Just remember to keep moving, and to stay close."

A few hours later we reached the end of the forest. The lush green fields came into sight and the infamous river I'd thrown the others over was sparkling in the sunshine. It looked like a scene from a picture book.

All ten of us stayed like that for a moment, simply watching. But then a squirrel jumped out on the grass in front of us, making us all have a heart attack and snap into our senses.

"God damn squirrels." I heard Incubux mutter, making me snort.

"Come on, lets do this quickly." I stepped out, starting to walk quickly across the field with the others close behind.
