"Strangulation?" Jin leaned back against the wall as he cocked an eyebrow. "You know you actually made a pretty good impression and then you go off saying stupid stuff like this?"

You ignored him, just like you had been since they got back to the station. Instead of acknowledging him, your eyes stuck to the file in front of you, annoying the crap out of Jin.

"Hey." He snapped. "In case you forgot, you're in my jurisdiction. You have to answer to me."

You finally glanced up to look at him through your eyelashes, smirking ever so slightly. "You haven't asked me anything yet."

Jin clenched his fists at his side. "I still don't get why you're here."

You dropped the file on the counter between the two of you rather sloppily. "Read that over for me, will you detective?"

Jin forced himself not to snarl, snatching the file and bringing it close to his face as he turned away from you. His eyes immediately grew wide, knowing exactly what he was looking at.

"Why the hell are you looking at this?" He barely whispered.

You leaned back. "I said look it over, didn't I? Looking at the first page isn't going to help you."

"This is bull shit, I'm not in the mood to deal with you." He slammed the file down. "Get out. We don't need you here."

You showed no reaction to his outburst. "Suit yourself." You said after a second, slipping off your lab coat only to grab a black jacket hanging over a chair, shrugging it on before slipping past Jin towards the door. "But call me when he contacts you."

"Excuse me?" Jin barked, spinning around to look at you.

You simply looked at him with that stupid smirk that seemed to be plastered onto your face. "Nevermind. It was such a pleasure meeting you, detective."

As you left the coroner room, a small piece of paper fell from your hands, softly falling on the floor not too long after Jin heard your footsteps down the hallway. He couldn't help himself, bending down to look at the paper, scoffing almost immediately when seeing what must've been your phone number.

"Cocky twat."

"Ah, finally acknowledged your own personality, have you?"

Jin didn't bother turning around, recognizing the voice that echoed through his ears. "Shut it, Tae."

"That girl really bothered you, huh? I kinda liked her actually."

Jin finally turned around to face his younger brother. "You met her?"

"Course I did, I work down here, remember?" Taehyung gave him a face. "Anyway, what did she say that got you so worked up?"

"Nothing." Jin shrugged it off, grabbing the file. "Just some stupid impossible theory."

"I thought that was your strong suit." Taehyung raised an eyebrow. "Are you jealous someone has shown up that mirrors your ridiculous notions?"

"Taehyung seriously, I am not in a joking mood," Jin grumbled.

"When are you ever?" Taehyung simply shrugged. "Here's the official autopsy report for that man, in case you want to look at it."

Jin took the clipboard from his hands, his eyes going straight for the cause of death. "Strangulation." He breathed. "Did she write this up?"

"No actually." Taehyung seemed very unbothered by the situation. "I did. She was trying to find something on the computer almost the whole time. Although the moment she walked in with the body she told me everything I found out. It's impressive how she can give a full analysis without looking over the body closely."

Jin tugged at his bottom lip. "Get me a copy of this as soon as possible." He said, handing back the clipboard.

Taehyung took it hesitantly. "Is something wrong? You seem... I don't know." Taehyung didn't want to say the wrong word.

"Fine." Jin bit out. "Just a little confused is all."

"Confused?"

"Forget it." Jin batted it off quickly. "Just get me a copy."

He didn't let Taehyung get another sentence in, walking out just as his little brother was about to say something else. There were too many things going through his head, he knew he would yell at him for no reason.

There was no way, no way you were right. It was just too impossible. Well, it wasn't impossible, Jin just wanted it so badly to be so. Still, something like this, at a time like this, it was just too convenient. How is it that she gets to the crime scene the moment Jin does, even though she lives hours away, and throws this theory out of nowhere? It was just too weird.

"Detective?"

Jin got pulled from his thoughts by one of the lower officers calling out for him. "What?" Jin asked.

"You got a package. It's on your desk."

"Thanks." Jin muttered, really not caring.

The officer dismissed his attitude, taking it as his daily dose of being an ass. Jin made his way to his desk, slouching down in the chair before lazily looking at the package. It was a very small box, about the size of his hand. There was no return address, not even a sending address. The only thing written on it was his name.

Now intrigued, Jin sat up straight and sliced the tape open with a pocket knife, setting it down carelessly on the counter before opening the box, narrowing his eyes at what he saw. There was nothing in it but a folded up piece of paper. It was folded so many times it looked like a child had done it.

For some reason Jin looked around making sure no one was looking over his shoulder before pulling out the folded bundle, unraveling it with very careful hands. Once getting it open, he wanted nothing in the world than to have thrown away the box the moment he set eyes on it.

This letter is directed to Detective Kim SeokJin and him only. Please read with caution, Detective. From now on you will need to be on your best behavior, or else things might get a little...

Detective. Congratulations. You have spiked my interest. Believe me, I have been thinking over this decision for a long time. But it's just too much, you are too interesting. I have high expectations Detective. You seem to be good at puzzles.

I look forward to working with you.

-The Mechanic

His hands shook as he read over the letter almost ten times, making sure he was seeing the same thing every time.

No, he thought to himself as he dropped the letter back in the box and closed it. This is nuts, no way this is happening.

He ran his tongue over his bottom lip, shaking his head once before grabbing his bag, and the box, and headed outside.

He got all the way to his car before allowing himself to take in a breath, his eyes not leaving the box that sat in his passenger's seat. He debated with himself, his mind going back and forth while his hand clutched the small paper with your number on it.

It was just too weird.

"Damn it." Jin breathed out, roughly pulling out his phone and punching in the numbers from the paper, only waiting as long as two rings before your voice echoed through his ear.

"That fast huh?" You said, your voice almost on the verge of laughing. "Color me impressed, he must be excited."

"I am sending you an address. Meet me there in ten minutes."

And with that, Jin hung up. He didn't trust you, not even in the slights. You show up, so does "he". All of this was ironically convenient. If this truly was the Mechanic, if all of this was really happening...

Jin clenched his jaw, starting the car.

Game on.
