"What the hell were you even doing there?" The chief hissed while sitting at his desk, looking up at Yoongi.
"Y/N." Yoongi muttered. "Chasing one of her ghost stories."
"Well," The Chief sighed out. "I'm not going to lie and say I'm upset that you were there. You made a huge break in that case, even if it was by accident. I am now giving you full access to this case."
"But, sir," Yoongi felt his eyes grow wide. "That place is miles away, we've never even worked with there police force before."
"I had a chat with the sheriff down there this morning. They have been in the dark with this case for months. They've searched that house countless times and never found anything like that. Now I don't expect anything less from my best investigator, but even I admit it was impressive."
Yoongi bit down on the inside of his cheek. No way in hell would he ever let these people know it was Y/N who found the secret door in the floorboard, he wanted her as far from this as possible, she was already bouncing with wanting to help, he didn't want to give her even more motivation.
"You are not a detective, Mr. Min. Being an outside freelance associate, you can do things my police force cannot. I want you to find this sick bastard before the end of the week. Is that clear?"
Yoongi clenched his jaw. He'd be lying if he said he didn't want to dig deeper into whatever this was. Finding the bodies of not only the missing couple but the, or one of, the murder weapon's from the unsolved case in 1981, he was actually itching to get his hands on that evidence and see what he could find, but him being put on this case meant you being put on the case, whether you were officially assigned or not.
Nevertheless, he said,
"Yes sir."
You were waiting outside on a bench against the wall, tapping your foot impatiently while you look at the floor. The moment Yoongi opened the door from the office your head shot up, standing up within the speed of light to meet him.
"What did he say? Is he letting you on the case?"
Yoongi sucked in a deep breath. "What do you think?"
A grin filled your face almost immediately. "Sick!" You cheered. "Now I have an accuse to get my hand on that murder weapon."
"Look Y/N I'll," Yoongi knew with every ounce in his body that he was going to regret what he was about to say. "I'll let you help, but you've got to realize you are restricted. You do what I say when I say and nothing more than what I say."
You jerked your head back with a raised eyebrow. "Why the sudden rules?"
"This isn't Seoul. We are working in a small town, with a small police station. I've worked in places like this before, and things can go from zero to a hundred in a second. You're not a fighter Y/N, nor are you even allowed to walk onto this case without my full approval. I might need you, so I am going to let you help, but the second you disobey me, I'm benching you faster than you can blink, understand?"
You've seen Yoongi get like this before, so you knew he was 100% serious. You also knew it would be easier just to go along with him. Stuff like this has happened before, where he's given you rules. He's a reasonable guy with the way you work, you just have to ask him and his answer will almost always be a yes, but there was something in the tone of his voice that set you off.
"Sure, Yoongi." You tilted your head, trying to read him. "Why do you seem so tense? You weren't even like this when we found two dead bodies. Did the Chief say something?"
