As soon as we enter the doors to our home - wow, it feels amazing to think that! - I make my way to the couch. Sighing I snuggle deeper into the cushions as Derreck walks over toward the kitchen, digging for something. Yawning I shut my eyes and let my focus go to following the sound of his footsteps across the linoleum in the other room. The clanging of glass across the counter surface interrupts the peaceful serene for a moment before he walks back toward me.

"I have something special for you." He says softly, a nervous edge in his voice.

I smirk at that little fact - that he's actually nervous around me is amusing - and keep my eyes closed as I say, "And what's that?"

I hear an odd popping noise just before the bed dips a little by my feet. "It's nothing much."

I chuckle at the smirk in his voice before opening my eyes, seeing the wine bottle he's holding carefully in his hand. "Oh really?"

He laughs and bites his bottom lip before nodding. "I was hoping you'd want to spend some time alone together. I wanted to make today special in case.."

My heart drops as the light in his eyes dim a bit as he thinks over every possible thing that could go wrong. I sigh and push myself into a sitting position before scooting closer to him. So close in fact that I'm practically in his lap. Giving him a small smile I rest my chin on his shoulder.

"You know that we'll make it through this, right?" I ask, not really sure of it myself but wanting him to believe it.

"But at what cost, Beks? I mean, we're fighting with a bunch of kids who've been turned just recently - those who haven't even gone through their first full moon even. They aren't equipped to deal with everything that's going on." He says, looking up at me with red eyes. "What happens to them?"

"Oh, Derreck!" I sigh, wrapping my arms around his neck. "Don't start thinking like that. Trust me, we'll do everything we can and the ones who are fighting you've trained amazingly well. I need you to trust that and relax for now. Can you do that?"

I watch him closely as he nods in slow motion - as of he's trying to digest my words. "Sometimes I forget how deeply you care."

He looks over at me curiously and I realize I said that bit out loud. "What?"

I shrug and frown a little. "It's just, on the outside you look like you couldn't care less about someone. But, once you let someone in, they go somewhere so deep in your heart that it hurts you so much more than other people. I guess I'm just used to you only showing that for me and to see how much the others have affected you has opened my eyes."

He sighs and pulls me closer to him, I sigh and burry my face into his chest as I take in his calming scent. "Yeah, I guess it shocks me too. I didn't even realize how much I care for them until now."

I smile and pull back to look him in the eye. "I love you."

At first I can tell how shocked he is - because of the context of how I'm saying it has hit him - and then the slow, gleeful smile spreads across his face. "And I love you."

We sit there, staring into each other's eyes for who knows how long and I wouldn't have it any other way. This moment, being able to look into each other's eyes and know what the other wants to say without having to open our mouths to speak, is amazing.

He sighs, breaking the moment with a smirk. "So...I have this wine and it would be a shame for it to go to waste."

I chuckle at his teasing tone and nod. "Yes, it would."

Hellloooooooo! All you wonderful readers you!

Okay, so the photo on the side of this chapter is one of someone we've really come to know and love - Ian!!!!!!!! Yes, this guy appeared out of nowhere in the previous installment and took our hearts. Aw! But what I'm guessing you don't know about Ian is that since he's of Beta descent his eyes actually glow a bright orange...weren't expecting that were you? So, what do you remember happened when we first met him?

A shout-out goes to the person who can remember what happened without looking back at My Wolf!

Also, if you didn't see the questions and little tidbits about the characters in previous chapters go back and look. Each one gives a little more insight to each person.

Always yours,
