Nick's P.O.V
Saturday
I still can't believe that those people let him have her. I mean "Hello, you know he hit her." Grown ups are stupid and crazy. I just hope she can make it through this week.
Just because we broke up doesn't mean that I stopped caring about her. I love her, but I'm just not good for her and neither is Matt.
He shouldn't have come back here. He's just gonna make things worse in her life. I bet she doesn't even know that he's a criminal.
When Matt was 14 he started stealing cars and scheming people for money. At 16 he started that stupid gang of his. I'm glad I left or I'd be more of a bad boy.
She thinks I'm the bad guy, but I'm just trying to keep her safe. I wonder what she's doing right now. I hope she's sleeping or something that doesn't involve Zach. I would love to smash that guy's face in.
I reach over and grab my phone. I scroll through my contacts and see who I can call. Sara, no. Nate, no. Hunter, no. Luke, no. Damn it, everyone's pissed at me. Ross. The name rings in my head. He might be with her or he could be at home. I push call and put the phone to my ear.
"Hey, Nick. What's up?" He asks.
"Nothin' much, man. What are you up to."
"Nick?" I hear Megan's sweet and soft voice.
"Megan! Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, I'm spending the day with Ross. Zach's orders."
"Do you know how much I hate him?"
"Trust me I hate him 1 million times more."
"True true. So, he hasn't touched you or anything?"
"Nope, he left me with Ross for the day. He went out with his old drinking buddies, which probably means torture starts tonight or tomorrow."
"I'm sorry, Megan. You don't deserve any if this."
"Its not your fault my mom had a thing for bad boys."
"I guess it runs in the family." I smirk and I hear her laugh. Her laugh is the most peacful thing in the world and its rare.
"I'm gonna finish eating, I'll see you at school." She says.
"Yeah, I'll see you. Let me talk to Ross." I hear the phone move around.
"Hey, I'll try and keep her safe, but there's not much that I can do." He says.
"Thank you, Ross." I hear the doorbell ring from downstairs. "Hey, I gotta go, see ya."
"See ya." I hang up and walk downstairs. I open the door and can't believe who is standing there.
"Come on, we gotta go somewhere." Matt orders.
"Why would I go anywhere with you?" I ask.
"Nick, come on. We've been friends since we were what, 4."
"Fine, where are we going?" I ask and we walk to his car. I have to go or else he'll tell my mom that I'm being an ass to him, again.
"You'll just have to find out." He says and we get in his car. I shake my head and buckle up.
