Megan's P.O.V
Sunday
"Princess, you need to wake up." Zach says and I feel a shiver go down my spine. I sit up and look around me, Ross is gone.
"You need to be ready to go in 15 minutes. I've got some stuff to do,so I'm taking you to your friend Nick's house." I nod and he leaves. I slightly smile knowing that I'm gonna be with a person who will protect me. And someone who I can talk to.
I get out of bed and walk into my closet. I put on a black thick strapped tank top, purple sweatshirt, and black jeggings. I put my hair up into a loose high pony tail and walk downstairs. I pull on my converse and Zach appears.
We walk out and into his car. The entire car ride is silent, I didn't even have to tell him where Nick lived. I look at the clock and its 5:47. He pulls up into the driveway and I get out without saying a word. He drives away and I sigh as I walk up to his front door.
I knock and in an instant the door's open. Nick is wearing dark denim jeans and a black T-shirt. Why is he up and dressed this early.
"Megan!" He exclaims and hugs me, which causes me to wince. He pulls back and is instantly filled with rage.
"He hurt you, didn't he?" He asks through gritted teeth.
"Yes, he did. I need to stay with you for the day. Zach is doing something and I can't be there, which is why I'm here." I say and we walk inside. I sit down on the couch and he nods.
"That's fine. Matt was actually gonna pick me up, so I'm gonna call him and tell him that your coming." I nod and he pulls out his phone.
"Hey, Matt." He says.
"Megan's here and she's gotta stay with me for the day."
"That's okay. Do you want her to come with me?"
"Even what you said yesterday?"
"Okay, bye." He says and hangs up.
"So, Matt was supposed to drive but he's got stuff to do. We have to leave like right now, I will explain everything on the way." He says and we walk out to his truck.
"How are you and Izzy?" I ask feeling a little hurt.
"We broke up this morning. We both decided that we just wanted to be friends." He says and I smile to myself. He sighs.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"I have to explain some things. I should probably start with, me and Matt have known each other since we were 4. When Matt was 13 he started stealing people's wallets, from gas stations, and grocery stores. He made me help him, he said if I didn't he would tell my mom that I was stealing. We found this old abandoned warehouse and used it as our hideout. When we were 16 we started stealing bigger things like cars, furniture, and video games. Around the same time we saw these 4 guys trying to steal some cars, so we helped them. Afterwards, they asked to join our group and we let them. Matt became our leader and we went on stealing from people."
"Last year when I was dating Mallary she found out about the gang. I took her to the warehouse a couple times. The guys took a protective instinct over her. When you met her you just wanted to keep her safe. She was gentle and could never hurt anyone. I only saw her as my best friend, but she saw me as more. I didn't want to loose her as a friend so when she asked me out I said yes. When the guys found out that Mallary had killed herself because of me, they beat the living shit out of me. They drove 5 hours out of town and left me in a ditch. When I got back to town I never went back to the warehouse, they never contacted me and I didn't care. I was done listening to Matt and his stupid rules."
