Normally you enjoyed attending these kinds of parties, but today you were just tired from lingering jet lag and having been to school just before. However, when your limo stopped and your door was opened by your driver, you put on a smile and stepped out of the vehicle to make your way inside the large mansion. You were greeted at the door by two large guards in black suits who asked for your name and to see your invitation. You happily gave them both and they allowed you into the home with a small bow out of respect for your status as a princess.
Entering the ballroom, you looked around and smiled a little. It was simply beautiful. Whoever had designed this room was an absolute genius in combining classical architecture with modern architecture. You were pulled back down to reality when a hand touched your shoulder and you turned to see who it was with a polite smile. "Ah, Mr. Ootori, thank you for inviting me. I was told you wished to talk business?" You stated cooly and the man nodded with a smiled that seemed fake to you but you couldn't be sure. "Yes, I'd like to talk with you about our medical branch. If possible, we'd like to establish ourselves in your country as a private system." He began and you gave small nods of acknowledgment as he continued to describe what he wanted to have happen with his family's medical branch in your country, though, to be completely honest, you weren't really interested in the least about this subject. Even so, you feigned interest so as not to upset the man speaking to you. When he seemed to be finished talking, he looked to you for a response.
"It sounds like a decent enough deal to me though I'll have to talk it over with our head of health care tomorrow after school. I'll get back to you with a proper answer as soon as I know." You spoke with a polite smile painted on your lips to which he just nodded and thanked you. "Please enjoy the rest of the party, your highness." He said respectfully and walked off to greet some other guests that had just walked into the ballroom.
Now free to explore the room and the buffet table, you walked off in the direction of the food. You hadn't yet eaten dinner so of course, you were going to at least sample some of the food being offered to the guests as snacks. When you reached the long string of tables filled with different foods, you grabbed a plate and began to pick your way through things, putting some things on the plate while passing over others that you didn't find to be to your liking. Once you'd filled your plate, you walked off to the side of the room to lean against the wall and eat in peace by yourself.
~~Short Time Skip~~
You walked aimlessly around the ballroom after eating and some guests greeted you. You chatted with a couple girls your age and were actually enjoying yourself when somebody bumped into your back, causing you to spill a small amount of your drink on yourself. The liquid was chilled and caused you to let out a small squeaky sound in surprise, catching yourself with a tiny stumble before you were able to fall. Whoever it was that bumped into you was quick to turn around and apologize and you turned around to give them a slightly annoyed look. The look on your face wavered just a little when you saw the boy's familiar face...
"Oh, Hello Kyoya. I didn't realize that you were here too.," you said and sighed lightly and looked down and your now wet dress. "Great, what am I supposed to do about this mess?" you thought to yourself with a frown of annoyance, though now it wasn't directed at Kyoya, but the fact that your dress was ruined and you had nothing else to change into. "Ah, I do apologize, (y/n), I didn't mean to bump into you... here," he said, pulling a plain white handkerchief out of his pocket and passing it to you which you politely took and began to press it against the wet spot on the chest of your dress. "Thank you. Kyoya, would you mind showing me to the restroom so I can clean up a bit better?" you asked him plainly. The boy fixed his glasses on his nose and nodded, turning to lead you where you'd asked to go.
"You don't talk very much, do you?" Kyoya looked over his shoulder at you but didn't respond, making you feel a little awkward but you didn't like the awkward silence either so you spoke up again. "So, your father said that you're going to take over the medical branch of the family business when you're done with school." you were just trying to make some small talk and this time at least he answered with words though, it was a very simple phrase. "Yes, that's correct. We're here." he finished and stepped to the side of a door, letting you go inside.
It took you a couple minutes to clean up the spill on your dress as well as use the toilet. You fixed your hair after washing your hands and then left the restroom, opening the door only to be met with a set of grey eyes. Kyoya had waited for you so he could escort you back to the party and he was in the process of cleaning his glasses when you exited the room. "Wow... he's actually quite attractive without his glasses on... wait, what?" you thought and quickly pushed the thought away. No, this boy would not cause you to get flustered. You'd only just met him. But was there really anything bad about finding strangers attractive? You thought some celebrities were attractive and you didn't know them either... That thought put your mind a bit more at ease as you walked behind Kyoya on the way back to the ballroom.
Your heels clicked on the marble floor of the ballroom as you and Kyoya parted ways for the rest of the party. To you, he came off as aloof and unapproachable though you had a sneaking suspicion that he wasn't always so... so cold. Yeah, that was the right word for it. He was cold...
