The Young Golden Eagle, Luka Doncic lined up in front of a line of five of the Galloping Knights of Dallas. He drew his wooden training sword as the Iron Knight, Wesley Matthews stepped forward and drew his. Doncic was to spar with each of Dallas' front line fighters one after the other with no breaks in between. Matthews advanced and the drills began.
On the balcony overlooking the courtyard where the knights were training, The Speckled Rooster, Dirk Nowitzki , Lord Harrison Barnes, and Lord Commander Rick Carlisle talked over the clanking wooden swords. They discussed tactics for their upcoming journey and how they would fare with Barnes and Nowitzki still ailing from the toil of battle. Carlisle turned to the Rooster.
"How does he look to you? Do you think he's ready?"
Nowitzki stared intensely at the sparring matches unfolding. Inside, he knew that the young lord needed much refinement. He was overconfident, overweight, and underexposed to the nature of battle in this realm. Dirk looked over for a moment at the statue of himself in the courtyard, one of several within the castle walls erected in his honor. The living legend knew, perhaps more than any other what it takes to survive and achieve glory here. Without moving his focus from the training session he exhaled and responded to Carlisle.
"He's going to need to be, Lord Commander."
