As the first day of winter rapidly approached, Lord Commander Steve Kerr and Steph Curry, The Golden Sparrow, walked up the steep steps leading to the top of the tower located in the heart of the Golden City. The two men were there to deliver news from the battlefield to High Maester Bob Myers, one of the realm's most renowned sorcerers and alchemists. When they arrived at the double-doored entrance of the tower room, Kerr took a moment to catch his breath before turning to Curry.

"I'll do most of the talking..."

Kerr then adjusted his robes and knocked on one of the doors using the large shield-shaped knocker.

"Enter, please", a voice beckoned from the other side. Kerr and Curry each pushed a door open and entered Myers' immaculate private chambers. They approached the High Maester who was sitting at a table in front of a bookcase that ran across the entire wall. The two lords bowed their heads for a moment, prompting a response from the enigmatic Myers.

"Hello, gentlemen. What news do you have for me from the battlefield?"

Kerr took an additional step forward and responded.

"Lord Myers, the blood bath in the Western Territories continues. Our forces are hobbled and there is little separation between numerous houses. Lord Curry has returned to the battlefield and has been magnificent as always, but we are in need of additional guidance..."

Myers nodded his head and looked down at the table in contemplation for a moment before looking back up at his two most trusted lords.

"This is most concerning. Thankfully I have forseen this as our epic conquests have created epic adversaries."

Kerr and Curry looked at each other sideways for a moment as Myers rose from his chair and turned around toward the book case. He scanned the various works before pulling out a red book with no title from the shelf. Suddenly, the entire wall rotated, revealing a large secret room. The two lords stood speechless as Myers called them to follow him.

"Let me show you something I've been working on", Myers said as the men approached a massive table with a white sheet on top of it situated in the middle of the room. He clutched the white sheet and pulled it off in one motion to reveal the comatose body of a knight thought to have been vanquished long ago, Lord Demarcus Cousins, The War Elephant.

Curry recoiled in fear for a moment as all knights who faced Cousins did before noticing the thick restraints keeping him strapped to the table.

"Is...is it possible to control such a force?", Curry asked without taking his eyes off the mammoth of a knight in front of him.

Myers took his wooden staff that was resting against the wall nearby and walked to the head of the table. He clutched the staff with both hands, lowered his head, and whispered a short spell in an ancient language the other two lords could not understand. Within an instant of finishing, Cousins' massive hands began to tremble. Kerr and Curry both stepped back slowly as the frightening knight's eyes popped open and the table began to shake.

In the town square below, the citizens of The Golden City all stopped what they were doing and looked up at the tower in response to a ghastly howl that thundered from above.
