3:24 pm
I hear Lilia upstairs crying, which means she's awake from her nap. That didn't last long at all.
I get up from the couch and walk upstairs to my room. I walk in just in time as she's crawling to the edge of the bed, trying to get down.
"Hey, hey. Mommy's here, babe." I pick her up and sit down on the bed, rocking her to calm her down.
"That wasn't a very long nap, babe. What's wrong with my princess?" I lay down in bed with her for a few minutes until she starts pulling at my shirt.
"Really, Lilia?"
I pull down my shirt and allow her to nurse while I mess around on Instagram. She falls asleep again after a few minutes, and just as a precaution, I stay in the bed so she won't wake up, but I end up falling asleep too.
4:57 pm
"Come with grandma, babe. We'll let mommy sleep for a little longer." I hear my moms voice in my room and I can tell with my eyes closed that she's taking Lilia out of the room.
I didn't even mean to fall asleep, but if I'm getting a little extra time, I'll take it. Unfortunately for me, when I'm almost asleep, my phone starts to ring. I groan and turn over to grab it, but my frown immediately turns upside down when I see who it is. I've never answered a phone so fast in my life.
"Justin, baby! I miss you so much! Are you okay, are you safe?"
"I'm fine, baby. I miss you too." Justin chuckles.
"What's the emergency? It better not be anything dangerous."
"Ariana, I'm in the military."
"Yes, I know. I know. What is it, though?"
"The war was getting extremely close to a couple villages that hadn't been evacuated yet and they needed more people to help get civilians out."
"Ohhh, civilians. That's a fancy word."
"Yes, it sure is. How are you guys doing?"
"We're good. We went to the mall and to eat lunch today. I got you some stuff."
"That's great. Did you have fun?"
"Of course I did. My mom did it to get you off my mind, but you know I can't ever stop thinking about you. I'm better, though."
"That's cute. I should be back in a couple days, though. But, you'll already be back in California so tell your mom and Nonna that I said bye."
"I will. I love you, babe."
"I love you more. I gotta go, though. It was amazing talking to you, baby girl."
"Okay, be safe, Justin."
"You know I'll do my best. I'll call you as soon as I can."
"Okay, bye baby."
"Bye."
I hang up and drop my phone on the bed, sighing. I want to, but I just can't stop worrying about him. Maybe sleep will help me forget.
5:38 pm
"Wake your mommy up, Lilia."
Mom puts Lilia on my bed and she climbs on top of me, plopping down on my stomach.
"Say 'good morning mommy'." Mom tells her.
Lilia just giggles, rolling off of me onto the bed.
"It's definitely not morning. Hi, mommies baby." I sit up, placing Lilia in my lap.
"Me and your Nonna are going out for bingo night! It's only for old people, no children allowed, so have fun here. All by yourself. With your 10 month old daughter."
"Cool. Have fun." I lay down again, turning the TV on and giving Lilia my phone so she'll have two things to distract her while I focus on waking up fully.
My idea doesn't work though, since she throws my phone to the end of the bed and starts bothering me about her blanket that fell on the floor.
"Okay, okay. Hold on. I'm surprised you didn't try to get it yourself." I lean off the bed to grab her blanket and almost fall, but I don't.
"Here's your blankie. Now can you leave mommy alone for a few more minutes?"
I take her attention to the TV as a yes and close my eyes for a few more minutes.
