Justin

Thursday, January 12

9:38 am

"Everybody's good? We've had breakfast, coffee, brushed our teeth, taken showers, and packed everything back in the bags? Lilia has her bottle, and her pacifier. That sounds like everything. Justin, does that sound like everything?" Ariana says.

"Yes, babe. This is the third time you've went down the list. Calm down."

"I'm sorry. I'm just so excited!" Ariana beams.

"I know, I know. Let's leave then?"

"Yes! Let's leave." Ariana picks Lilia up off the bed and we leave the hotel room.

While I check out, she goes to put Lilia in the car and get in the car herself.

"We hope you enjoyed your stay here at Marriott by Courtyard. Please, come see us again." The receptionist says as I turn around.

"Thank you." I smile before going outside to the car.

Ariana is driving since she knows where she's going and I don't, so for once in my life I get to sit in the passenger seat.

"This feels nice. Just being able to chill and watch the scenery pass by." I sigh, leaning back into my seat.

"Shut up. You sound stupid. And I'm pretty sure that's not even how you would say that." Ariana says.

"Don't correct me." I say.

"Wow, you remind me of me." Ariana laughs.

"Are we gonna go to the beach?" I ask.

"Duh, dumbass. Why wouldn't we?"

"I don't appreciate how you just called me a dumbass." I mumble.

"Sucks." Ariana shrugs, turning into a neighborhood.

"That was fast."

"I booked that hotel for a reason. Right down the street." Ariana winks at me and I laugh.

I look at the houses passing by and Lilia starts to whine, then cry.

"Baby, what's wrong?" Ariana asks.

I turn around and see she dropped her bottle, so I pick it up and give it to her. She stops crying immediately and I smile.

"Thanks." Ariana says.

"Mhm." I nod.

She finally turns into the driveway of a two story yellow house.

"Wow. I haven't been here in so long." Ariana just sits, staring at the house with tears in her eyes.

"What did I say, Lilia? Crying before she even sees them." I say, getting out of the car.

"Shut up. I'm not crying." Ariana wipes her eyes.

I chuckle, opening the back door to take Lilia out of her car seat. I grab her diaper bag too while Ariana walks up to the front door.

Just as I step onto the porch, a short woman wearing all black with black hair opens the door. I know this to be Ariana's mom, since I have seen pictures.

"Oh my God!" Joan gasps.

"Surprise, mommy!" Ariana says, wrapping her arms around her mom.

Me and Lilia stand on the porch for what seems like hours, but is actually only a minute or two.

"Baby, you look so different. It's been so long!" Joan says.

"I know, mama. I missed you so much." Ariana replies, hugging her again.

This goes on for a while, until Joan notices Lilia in my arms.

"Oh my..." She comes to take her from me and I smile.

Ariana told me the last time Joan saw Lilia was when she was born, 10 months ago.

"My granddaughter. You are huge!" She says, kissing Lilia at least a million times.

And, last but not least, me.

"Oh, Justin, I forgot you existed for a second there. It's so great to finally meet you in person. Give me a hug!"

I just give her a side hug since she's holding Lilia, and she kisses my cheek. Like moms do.

"It's nice to meet you too, Ms. Grande. I'm happy you guys finally had this reunion."

"Please, call me Joan. And it's all because of you. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have seen my daughter and granddaughter for another year. Thank you, Justin."

"It was my pleasure."

"Mom, come inside the house. You've been on the porch for like an hour." Ariana says from the front doorway.

"I have not!"

I allow Joan to walk in first, then me. Ariana stops me in the doorway, planting a kiss on my cheek.

"Thank you so much for this, baby. I love you." She whispers.

"I love you too."
