Renée's P. O. V.

I had flown in late last night and stayed at Haleigh's house. Now we were both getting ready for Thanksgiving lunch with Haleigh's family. We were having dinner with Mason's family later.

I was wearing an olive green long sleeve dress and tall boots with tall lacey socks. I curled my hair and did my makeup. Haleigh was wearing a brown corduroy skirt, a long sleeve black shirt that she tucked in, and black heels.

We went out into the living room and saw all the boys dressed up.

"You two look beautiful." I turned and saw Haleigh's grandmother, Mary.

"Mary!" I exclaimed, running towards her. She wrapped her arms tightly around me and I squeezed her in my arms.

Mary was the sweetest grandmother anyone could ask for. She talked about everything with me, and spoiled me like I was her own granddaughter.

"How are you sweetie?" She asked.

"I'm great, how are you?" I asked.

"I'm wonderful, dear. How's Oregon?"

"It's good. I love it there."

"I'm glad." She smiled. Mary went to hug her actual grandkids and I headed to the kitchen to find Jenny.

"Need any help?" I asked.

"Actually, could you finish the macaroni?" She asked.

"Yeah, of course."

I stood by the stove and stirred the noddles in the boiling water.

More family started to show up. I wasn't close with all of them, but they all at least knew who I was from previous years. We talked while Austin finished the ham and turkey.

"Let's pray before we eat," Haleigh's grandfather, David, said. We all bowed our heads and David prayed.

"Okay, younger kids first!" Austin called. All the little kids ran to the kitchen with their moms to fix their plates.

"Renée, can you help Sarah fix her plate?" Grace asked, holding her youngest baby on her hip. Grace was Jenny's sister, and Sarah was her four year old daughter.

I happily nodded and took Sarah's hand. Sarah was my favorite of Haleigh's cousins. I remember the first Thanksgiving she was at, just a little baby. I held her and she smiled so cutely. From then on I'd always play with her at family events.

We walked to the kitchen and Sarah picked out what he wanted. Ham, green beans, macaroni, and a bread roll. I took her plate over to the tables set up in the living room for the kids.

"Thanks Renée," she said.

"Of course." I smiled before going to get my own plate.

Everyone had slowly started to leave. We had talked for hours and the kids were starting to get bored. I went to say goodbye to Sarah.
