Daniel's P. O. V.

I pulled into a gas station and turned the car off. I put Squirt on his leash and walked him around while the tank filled up with gas.

Once Squirt had used the bathroom, I went back to the truck and out him into the backseat. I paid for the gas then got back into the truck. Renée was slowly opening her eyes.

"Hey, are we stopped?" She asked.

"Yeah, we're in Indy."

"Oh, let me drive."

"No, go back to sleep."

"Daniel, I told you I'm driving. Just let me go buy a soda." She yawned and sat her seat up. "Stay with Squirt."

I nodded and watched as she walked into the convenience store. She came out a few minutes later.

"Okay, let me drive," she said. I chuckled and got out of the drivers seat, going around to the passengers seat.

"You're comfortable driving?" I asked.

"I'm fine, Daniel." She chuckled. "Gotta drive this truck sometime."

"Right." She started the ignition and pulled back onto the highway. I had the gps on my phone so she knew where to go.

"Come here little Squirt," I said pulling him into my lap. He jumped and put his paws on my chest. I smiled and rubbed his back as he licked all over my face.

Renée's phone started ringing and she tossed it to me after seeing Zach was facetiming. I answered and his face popped onto the screen.

"Hey Daniel," he said.

"Hey. Renée's driving."

"Oh cool. Where are y'all?"

"We just left Indy. What's up?"

"Nothing, just wanted to check in. How are y'all?"

"We're good. I'm glad it didn't snow too much, I was worried it'd put us behind schedule."

"Yeah."

"How's Texas?" I asked.

"Great. Reese really misses you Daniel."

"Aw, where is my little Reese?" I asked.

"Reese! Daniel wants to talk to you!" Zach yelled. A few seconds later I could hear his door open and close, then Reese jumped onto Zach's lap.

"Daniel!" She exclaimed, smiling at the screen.

"Hi Reesey!" I said. "How are you?"

"I'm good, how are you?"

"I'm good."

"You excited for Christmas?"

"Yeah, I asked Santa for so many toys, I'm so excited." She started going on about the different toys she asked for.

"When are you coming back to Texas?" She asked.
