Renée's P. O. V.

Daniel was driving, following close behind the car that my mom was in. She had finished her reading and signing, so now we were headed back to her house.

I had started feeling a little better about the whole situation. I thought about what Daniel said. We can catch up and stay in touch, but she doesn't have to be in my life if I don't want her to. But I think I might.

The drive to her house was about thirty minutes. We pulled up in front of a huge, beautiful mansion. I expected this, she's a famous author and who knows what Nate does.

Daniel parked on the curb and got out. I hooked Squirt up to his leash and put him on the ground. We walked up to the front door and fell into step with my mom.

"I have a dog, but she's really old so she won't bother the puppy," she warned.

"Oh, he'll be fine," I told her. She smiled and unlocked the big glass door. We walked inside, and it was basically what I expected. Everything was clean and white. You could tell that everything was expensive, but it wasn't too show-offish.

To our left wad what I assumed was an office filled with bookshelves and papers and picture frames if my mom with people who seemed important. To our right was a dining room with a long table that could seat ten. There was a beautiful chandelier hanging down.

In front of us, a short hallway led to the living room. Right after the office was a large staircase. We walked into the living room full of beautiful white furniture. In the corner was a tall, fake, Christmas tree decorated with good and silver ornaments.

Next to the living room was a grand kitchen that connected to the dining room. It was huge and beautiful, just like the whole entire house.

"Michelle, you're home. Who's this?" A man came from a hallway on our left, I'm guessing it led to the master bedroom.

"Nate, this is my daughter Renée."

"Renée? Oh my gosh, I've heard so much about you!" He exclaimed. Funny since my mom knew nothing about me.

"She flew from Oregon to find me."

"Wow. I'm so happy to finally meet you." He smiled and hugged me.

"You too. And this is my friend Daniel, and my puppy Squirt."

"Nice to meet you Daniel." They shook hands. "And Squirt, you're just adorable."

"Thanks." I chuckled.

"Wow, you look so much like your mom." I smiled.

"Have a seat," my mom said. Daniel and I sat on one couch and Nate and my mom sat on the one next to it. Squirt hopped up into my lap. Their dog was laying on a dog bed in the corner.

"I invited them over so we could catch up," my mom said.

"Yeah, of course. So, what are you up to?" Nate asked.

"Um, I just took my first finals a few days ago at Pacific Northwest. It's an art school. I'm not really doing anything else. Daniel and I are having a little roadtrip back to Oregon when we leave." I shrugged.
