Renée's P. O. V.

Visiting hours ended at nine, so I went ahead and left my dad. I hugged him and told him I'd try to come back tomorrow, then walked out to Haleigh's car.

I got in and locked the doors, then pulled my phone out and called Daniel. I put it on speaker as I drove back to Mason's.

"Hello?"

"Daniel, hey."

"Hey, what's up Renée? How's your dad?" He asked.

"Um, he's good, I just left the hospital."

"How'd it go?"

"It was actually kinda good. It started out kinda bumpy, but..."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah. I um, I told him about my mom."

"What'd he say?"

"He told me that she was lying. That she left him for her career and he was heartbroken."

"Did you believe him?" He asked.

"I think so, yeah. I mean, I know my dad. He was there all my life. My mom left."

"Yeah."

"Do you think that's crazy?"

"No, I think I would believe him too. Your mom was kind of sketchy sometimes, too."

"Yeah. And I actually felt happy with my dad. After we got passed all of that, I talked to him about everything. And he listened and he cared and I was just so happy."

"I'm glad, that's really amazing Renée."

"I know...I just wish it wasn't too late. He only has a few months."

"I'm sorry."

"It's okay. How's the trip going?" I asked.

"Pretty good. I drove to Salt Lake City after I dropped you off and got breakfast. Then I got lunch in Boise and I took about a two hour nap. Now I'm like an hour away from Portland."

"Wow, you drove straight there?"

"Yeah, it's not as fun without you." I chuckled. "I took some pictures I can send you."

"Okay. How's my Squirt?"

"He's good. He likes sitting in my lap and staring out the window."

"That's cute."

"Yeah. How's Paige?"

"She's good, she named her daughter Jaelyn. And she's so cute I love her."

"Aww."

"I'm almost to Mason's so I'll let you go, text me when you get home."

"I will. Bye."

"Bye." I hung up and pulled into Mason's driveway.
