Renée's P. O. V.

"15 minutes left, then we're out of here!" Haleigh exclaimed.

"Finally! I'm so sick and tired of coming here everyday!" Mason complained.

"I'm just so ready to get out of here." I shook my head and sighed.

The three of us were sitting in Ms. Franklin's AP English class. We had an early release and everyone had finished with their exams, so we all just sat around and talked.

English had to be my favorite class, after art of course. I loved reading and writing. I guess it was in my blood, since my mom's a famous author. I wasn't necessarily the best at it, but I was genuinely interested in it, and Ms. Franklin was an amazing teacher.

Mason, Haleigh and I sat at our desks and talked about what our future would be like, even though we had discussed it thousands of times before.

Haleigh and Mason were both staying here and attending the state university, like Joey. They weren't quite ready to leave home yet.

I, on the other hand, couldn't wait to get out of here (if you couldn't already tell). And the thing is, Haleigh and Mason were happy about me leaving. I mean, yes, of course we'd all miss each other. But it was much better for me to get out of Florida as quick as I could. They wanted what was best for me, and I loved them for it.

"Okay class, listen up please," Ms. Franklin started. "The bell's going to ring in a few minutes, but I wanted to say something before you all left. I'm extremely proud of all of you in here. You've grown so much, just in the past year. I'm glad that I got to be your teacher and experience your growth with you. I know not all of you enjoy this class, but I wish you luck on all of your future english classes. You've been an amazing class. So thank you."

The class erupted in 'awe's and some even went up to hug Ms. Franklin. The bell rang and everyone jumped up, rushing out of the door.

The hallway was chaos, as it usually was on the last day. Papers were flying everywhere, kids yelling down the hall. I rushed to my locker and then rushed outside to meet up with Mason and Haleigh.

"Renée!" I turned and saw the two standing by Mason's car. I walked towards them and stood by the car.

"Ice cream?" He asked.

"Is that even a question?" I asked rhetorically. Ice cream was one of the many, many traditions I'd miss while in Oregon.

Haleigh and I drove in her car and Mason drove in his.

"You're gonna find two new friends to get ice cream with. Except, up there it'd be hot chocolate," Haleigh said with a sigh. She sadly licked her ice cream cone.

"Oh, I could never replace y'all." I chuckled.

"You better not," Mason said.

"Mason! You're supposed to be working!" A woman yelled from behind the counter. Mason winced and looks back.

"Sorry, this customer had a question about how we make the ice cream."

"Mhm. Get back to work!"

"I gotta go." He chuckled. He kissed Haleigh before saying goodbye to both of us.

"I'm glad y'all are both staying here. I couldn't stand to see how y'all would be if one was leaving." I chuckled.

"Yeah, it'd be a mess. I'm glad we're staying too. It's bad enough you're leaving, but if I lost him too? I don't know what I'd do."
