Renée's P. O. V.

"Alright, I gotta go," I told my dad.

"Okay, honey. Thank you so much for coming."

"Of course dad. I'm glad you sent me that letter."

"Make sure you spend that money wisely."

"I'll put it towards my books and stuff for next year."

"Good."

"I can try to come visit in a couple weeks for a weekend."

"Only if it doesn't mess with your schedule."

"Okay. I'll see you soon. Bye dad." I hugged him.

"Bye sweetie." He kissed my cheek. I grabbed my bags and went downstairs, finding my uber.

I called Daniel as I waited to go through security.

"Hey, my plane leaves at 1:45 so I should be landing at around seven. Can you pick me up?"

"Yeah, of course."

"Okay great. I'll see you soon," I said. Zach, Daniel, and I were getting together tonight for New Year's. My flight would get to Portland just in time to make it.

"Can't wait." I bit my lip as we both hung up. I got through security and sat down to wait for my flight to be called.

After about twenty minutes, I glanced up at the board with all the flights on it and my jaw dropped. I ran up to the front desk.

"Excuse me," I said.

"Yes?"

"Um, why is the Portland flight delayed?"

"The earlier flight arrived late. It shouldn't be too long, maybe an hour or so delay."

"Okay, thank you." I sighed and went back to my seat.

I texted Daniel and let him know my flight was delayed.

I sat in my seat and looked through social media, trying to make the time pass faster.

Thursday | 6:48 p.m.

After more delays because of ice on the runway in Portland, my flight was finally ready to take off. I told Daniel I'd barely make it before midnight so they could just stay and watch the New Year's shows and I'd get an uber.

I got to my seat and sighed. Of course my flight had to be the one delayed. I put my headphones in and looked out the window, falling asleep.

Eventually, I felt the plane shake and I woke up from my nap. I yawned and stretched, packing up my stuff. The flight attendants said we could go and I made my way out of the gate.

I looked at my phone and saw it was two minutes to midnight. I sighed as I walked to the baggage claim. I grabbed my stuff and started walking to the front. I looked up from my phone and spotted Daniel.
