I opened my eyes suddenly, and turned on the lamp. Masyado pang maaga. Hindi pa nga tumunog yung alarm clock ko.
Guess what?
It's my 18th birthday today. And I'm extremely excited. Various thoughts come flooding my mind. I'm already eighteen, pero bakit wala man lang nangyayari sa akin, sa buhay ko? I got same routines everyday, ever since. I don't get to experience that teenage stuff like what I've read from different books.
I smiled bitterly.
Oh yeah, I don't even have some acquaintances or friends at all. Kung lumalabas man ako ay hanggang sa garden lang namin which is still not outside the house dahil may mataas pang pader na nakapalibot.
Kaya siguro excited na ako makapasok sa Feuteracria dahil all this time, I feel alone here. Will it change my life? Basically yes, just the fact that I will have some classmates is already something new. I stared at the ceiling like it's what my life is dedicated to.
Lumipas ang ilang minuto at may napansin ako. Parang nagkakaroon ito ng maliit na whirlpool. Bigla akong napabangon na nakatingin parin sa ceiling habang unti-unting lumalaki ang ipo-ipo.
Kinabahan ako.
I ready myself. I was about to use my element nang biglang mawala ang bagay sa ceiling at may nahulog na puting sobre.

Hinayaan kong mahulog ang sobre hanggang sa lumapag ito sa kandungan ko. I stared at it for a bit, until I decided to finally open it. My eyes exageratadely came out and my jaws literally dropped.

After I was able to read it properly and made sure that I wasn't just dreaming, I rushly went down with tiny screams and giggles.
"Auntie!" I keep calling her name in an exagerated manner. Binuksan ko ang ilaw at nakangiting mukha ni Auntie ang bumungad sa akin.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALEXIS!" Again, I was surprised. Lumapit sa akin si Auntie at niyakap ako kaya niyakap ko rin siya. Nakita ko na may mga nakahanda sa mesa. I smiled. She's such a sweet Auntie, ever.
"Auntie, I got a big news for you," I fastly said after the hug.
She giggles. "You mean this one?" May ipinakita siyang sobre na katulad ng sa akin. "Come on, hindi lang ang magiging students ang pinapadalhan nila ng sulat, pati rin ang guardians nila." Napatangu-tango na lang ako. Yun pala yun? Balak ko pa namang isurpresa siya.
"Congratulations, my dear Alexis." She sweetly smiles.
"I don't know what to say." And I mean it.
"I know, it's your dream, and finally here it is. I'm so proud of you."
"Thank you, auntie." Umupo muna kami. "Anyway auntie, bakit parang medyo marami ang hinanda mo ngayon?" tanong ko nang makita ang kabuoan ng handa sa mesa.
"Well, you'll be having a visitor today. Maybe he's on his way already. I didn't expect you to wake up this early in the first place."
Again and again, it's a surprise. Did I hear it right? Me? Having a visitor?
