A week had passed.
Last week was a total blast. Pero pagkatapos ng ilang araw na maingay na kasiyahan ay siyang katahimikan naman ang umaalingawngaw ngayon.
The Council is already here since last week.
They arrived just the day after the Victory Party, but we formally welcomed their arrival just this morning. May hinintay pa kasi silang ibang kasamahan. Hindi tulad ng dati, mas marami ngayon ang kasama nilang mga tauhan. Kasama rin nila si Thalia Bonham, the Keeper of Laws. At isa pang Professor na galing sa Council, na siyang isang linggo nilang hinintay.
We were informed that we will be having an hour lecture at the multi-purpose hall with that so called professor. At doon kami ngayon patungo. Maraming studyante ang kasabay namin sa hallway at halos lahat ay hindi gumagawa ng kahit kaunting ingay.
Natatakot sila.
Maging ako ay kakaiba ang nararamdan sa kararating pa lang na Council. They're even creepier than before.
Napatingin ako sa lalaking kasabay ko ngayong naglalakad. Tanging si Matthias lang ang kasama ko dahil nandoon na ang tatlo sa loob.
"Matt, what do you think will be the topic of this lecture?" curious kong tanong sa kanya.
"Maybe about the Guardians. I heard several ministerial generals talking about them."
Guardians. Interesting. Isa rin ito sa mga palaisipan sa akin noon. Matagal na mula noong una ko itong nalaman sa klase ni Professor Devon.
"I see," simple kong sagot.
"It's so weird. The Guardians are so elusive. They leave no trace at everything they do."
"You're talking like they're currently here, roaming around us." According to what I read, the Guardians became silent already, therefore, considered as extinct subject.
"Just the fact that they caught the Council's attention, means that there's a chance that they're here living among us." He has a point.
Napatigil lang ang paglipad ng aking isipan nang tuluyan na kaming makapasok sa loob ng hall. Halos lahat ng studyante ay naririto na kaya medyo maingay na rin.
Bigla naming nakasalubong si Director Valtigo kaya napayuko kami. Napailing lang siya at nilagpasan na kami. What was that? Mukhang hindi maganda ang mood niya ngayon. I don't know if it has something to do with the Council. Nevertheless, it's none of my business.
Habang papunta kami sa puwesto nina France ay hindi ko maiwasang mapatingin sa gitna ng hall. May malaking poster doon na may nakasulat na 'Guardians' tapos isang malaking ekis na kulay dugo sa salita mismo. May mga mumunting bulongan din mula sa mga studyante.
Seems like Matthias is right.
"What took you so long?" nakataas na kilay na tanong ni France. Yeah right. Medyo late na kami ng ilang minuto at mabuti na lang at hindi pa nagsisimula ang lecture.
"Sorry." Napangisi na lang ako. Umupo na ako sa tabi niya.
"Nandito kanina si Director Valtigo, mukhang nagkasagutan nga sila ni Ministro Benedicto." Napatango lang ako sa impormasyon ni France. That explains the frustrated face of Director Valtigo a while ago.
Lahat kami ay napasinghap at napatigil nang biglang sumara nang malakas ang malaking pintuan ng hall.
"Silence." Umalingawngaw ang boses ng babaeng nasa gitna ng stage.
"I'm Professor Stacey," maikli niyang pagpapakilala. So, she's the professor everyone is talking about. Kung titignan mo siya ay magkasing-edad lang sila ni Professor Devon. But then of course, Professor Devon is much more gorgeous than her.
