A young man with messy grey hair strolled through the dark streets of the city he lived in. The teen's name was Eak, and he was in a really shitty mood. His eyes were dull as he mindlessly stepped in every puddle he came across, not caring that his socks were basically soaking by now. The memory of what happened merely 4 weeks ago kept replaying itself in his head, and though he tried his hardest to ignore the knot that had formed in his stomach, Eak couldn't shake off the feeling of exhaustion washing over him.
God, he needed to stop moping around. People would think of him as weak if he kept going like this. He needed to get her out of his head. He needed to distract himself from the sadness. Damn it, why couldn't he just go on with his life?!
He ran a hand through his hair in frustration and roughly kicked a rock away that lay on his path. Suddenly, he stopped walking and took in his surroundings. Where was he, anyways?
Oh.....oh shit. With a nerve-wrecking feeling, Eak recognized the graffiti that was sprayed right above a dirty green dumpster. This was The Nightmare's territory. The drawing of a grey skull with flaming green eyes stared back at him, and Eak felt his body tense up as he heard nearing footsteps from behind him.
He had heard rumors about The Nightmares before, but he'd never actually seen them in person.
"Hey, kid. Ya know this is our territory, right?" A husky voice spoke up.
Welp, his night couldn't get any worse, so Eak guessed he'd be alright with blowing off some steam by fighting someone. He turned around on his heel, ready to face a bunch of rowdy-looking adults that would fit with the description 'Nightmare'.
To his surprise, The Nightmares were a bunch of teenagers. Four, to be exact. The dark-skinned one that was seemingly sucking on a lollipop was about Eak's height. Despite their young age, The Nightmares looked fairly intimidating.
Eak didn't say anything, he merely raised an eyebrow at the boy. Behind the boy, stood three other teens. One was very tall, almost a giant, and he had his orange hair tied in a short ponytail. The shortest of them, a boy with long dark blue hair, had his mouth full of sharp teeth. And the only girl of the squad was a strong-looking gal with dark pink hair.
"Cat got your tongue?" The blue-haired one snickered.
"No. Dog got your mouth? 'Cause it sure looks like it." Eak simply replied.
The long-haired kid growled, undoubtedly not realizing how lame Eak's comeback had been.
"Look, you probably don't know who you're messin' with, so I'll give ya a chance to hand over your money before we'll take it ourselves." The boy who Eak assumed to be the leader of the squad, took a step forwards.
Man, they really did look like a real gang. All four of them were wearing scarves and brown jackets, with each jacket having the letter T printed onto it twice. Eak wanted a jacket like that. Maybe that was an odd thought to have when you were about to get beaten up, but who really cared anyways?
"Nah, I think I'll keep my wallet. Thanks for the offer, though." Eak casually stuffed his hands inside his pockets.
Picking a fight with four people at the same time was one thing, but if those said people were a gang as well, you'd get in serious shit. But Eak didn't mind. Fighting those teens would probably lift his spirits up a bit.
"You're askin' for it, buddy......" The leader cracked his knuckles, an obviously annoyed smile tugging at his lips.
"Give me all you've got then!" Eak smirked and balled his own fists.
He tensed up a bit as the rest of the squad closed in on him, and of course he nearly sighed in relief when the dark-skinned boy shooed them away.
"Hold up. I'm feeling nice tonight, so how 'bout we ask our friend over there in what style he wants to fight?" The leader shot a glance towards his mates, earning snickers from them.
