Brigitte Lindholm- Garage Accident (a)

"Oh please, do not sound so scared, it is merely a simple neural-relocator, very simple, I just need to run some diagnostics with somebody wearing the headpiece."

"A neural... What?" Brigitte reached deeply into a box and pulled out a dusty plastic hat with wires and sensors haphazardly hanging out.

"Do not worry about the science behind it, just put it on and we will-"

A cacophony of crashes and bangs interrupted Brigitte, a tower of boxes collapsed, cascading down onto the two of you causing the both of you to cough and splutter.

"What in the...?" You asked as the dust settled and the noise stopped. "Are you okay?" She just stood there, her mouth slightly ajar at the destruction and loss. "It will be okay, I can help you put everything back where it is meant to be." You tried gently shaking her shoulder but she still did not respond. After some slightly more aggressive shakes she lifted her arm and pointed to a newly-crumpled pile of cardboard, you could see nothing but some old fur hat or fur slippers or something, at least that's what you thought it was until you remembered that slippers don't tend to purr.

"Don't panic, I'm sure it's fine." You watched the cat joyfully clean it's leg and rub itself along the edge of the box. "I didn't know you had a cat..."

"I don't... Well, didn't." With an arched back and an outstretched hand she walked towards the cat, whistling ever so gently to get it's attention, without hesitation it nuzzled into her hand, the purring filled every nook and cranny of the room.

"I think it likes you!" They both seemed so calm, so at ease.

"Me and cats just kind of have this... thing. I can't really explain it, but no cat has ever ran away or been scared of me."

"Are you going to keep it?"

"I don't really think I have a choice... come on you, let's get you inside in a nice warm blanket." She scooped it up and cradled it in her arms, carrying it inside to it's new home.
