Under the cover of darkness, you and Jesse had managed to sneak into your bedroom in an attempt to pack up any necessary clothes or money that you might need to make your escape and start your new life together.

"Listen at the door." You told him as you started to fill a bag with not only things to wear but also things like jewellery that could be sold for a quick buck if you needed it further down the line.

"And what exactly do you expect me to do if I hear your father knocking at the door?" Jesse stood with one ear pressed against the door and his hat pressed against his chest.

"What would you normally do if you were robbin' a place and someone tried to get in?" You were a lot less tense than he was, but you knew that your daddy would be a lot better with you than with the wanted outlaw that was the reason the apple of his eye was running away in the night.

"Shoot 'em?" You had noticed that most of the time his hand naturally rested on the butt of his gun, or it was at least never far from his trusted pistol.

"Maybe we don't do that. You'll have to try and hide or something."

"I have another idea, how about you hurry up so we can get out of here."

"I'm packing, I'm packing... not my fault I have a lot of clothes."

"Well you can't take a lot of clothes. It's not like we have a vehicle, it's a long walk to the next town from here as well."

You reached deep into your bedside drawer; it went much deeper than expected thanks to a false bottom which made it very useful for hiding things from prying eyes. At the very bottom of the draw sat a pair of car keys which you threw to Jesse much to his confusion.

"I didn't know that you could drive?"

"I can't. But you can." His concerned frown turned to the cocky smile that you had come to love in the time that you had known him.

"If you can't drive, why do you have car keys?"

"Maybe I stole them from my daddy and played dumb when he couldn't find them... just because I can't drive doesn't mean I don't drive."

"Well check you out, my little criminal. Maybe you're gonna adjust to life of an outlaw better than I thought."
