Loss was just one of the things you had to accept as a member of Overwatch. People died but would never be forgotten thanks to you and your teammates. Colleagues had died before, but the death of Ana Amari hit you harder than them all. You'd worked together for decades, being best friends and practically sisters. You had seen her get married and have a daughter and now you had been to the funeral and seen her daughter cry. After the funeral you had asked for a couple of days and had been granted them, so went to your home and let yourself grieve.
You lived in the middle of nowhere and only a few of your colleagues from Overwatch knew where it was located. So, you had expected solitude for the few days you had away from work; when someone knocked on the door, it took you by surprise. Looking through the spy hole, you were shocked by what you saw, so you cocked your gun, and opened the door a crack.
"Ana, is that you?" You asked.
"It is me, Y/N, please set me in."
"Where did we first meet?" You questioned.
"London, on your first day in the academy."
You smiled fondly at remembering when you first met all those years ago. You couldn't believe that Ana was alive. Opening the door, you wrapped your arms around her, holding her tightly.
"Does Fareeha know?" You asked.
Why would have Ana pretended to die and most importantly, did her daughter know too? Ana shook her head as you let her into the house.
"Only you know. And frankly I wish to keep it that way," she stated. "I cannot stay long but I needed to ask you something important."
"What's going on Ana?"
"I need to go into hiding Y/N, it isn't safe for me to stay with Overwatch. I will be back but there is some things I need to do first and no one can know I am still alive," she explained. "I shouldn't have even told you, but I need you to do something for me."
"Anything Ana."
You'd never been married or had children yourself, so Ana was the closest thing to family that you had. Your team was your family, and Ana had always been there for you through every trouble, so you were willing to do anything for her.
"Look after Fareeha."
Fareeha was an adult and more than capable of taking care of herself, she had always wanted to be like her mum and join Overwatch and fight for what was right. She didn't need someone to take care of her.
"She's an adult, why didn't you tell her?" You asked.
"If I told her she'd never let me go, she'd put herself in danger. I know she can fair well for herself, but she will always need someone to confide in and I wish it could be me," she smiled softly. "So please take care of my little girl."
You nodded your head. "I promise I'll take care of her Ana."
