"And just when I thought things were starting to get better,

Everything had gone wrong again."

Alya's P.O.V.

After having breakfast, Liam and I left for the hospital around 11.30am. On the way, I picked up the chocolates and the stuffed toys for the kids, which the shopkeeper had already packed after I called him up in the morning just as I always used to do.

Liam and I had a wonderful time with those little angels and I noticed how everybody jelled up with him in just a day's time. It seemed as if they had known him since forever. In addition, Liam looked too freaking cute while playing with those children; he acted just like a kid with them.

That day, we had our lunch in Adi's room around 3 pm and he seemed to be doing a little better than the other day. The doctor permitted us to stay back for some more time so we decided to play cards to keep Adi's mind diverted from the little pain that he still felt now and then.

Whilst I shuffled the cards, Liam got up from the chair next to mine and walked around the bed before he sat next to where Adi was laying. "I am on this handsome boy's side." He announced, making the kid smile and I could not help but adore Liam's sweetness.

Taking Adi's hand in his, he high-fived him before carefully resting it back on the bed while I was smiling like an idiot then. "Yes?" Liam's sudden voice made me realize that I had zoned out. I knew I was staring at him the whole time, which he had obviously noticed because that silly grin spread across his face was saying it all.

Shaking my head in response, I got back to shuffling the cards again and spoke up. "You are still gonna lose, though." I bantered with him and he scoffed, rolling his eyes at my comment.

"Sure, we'll see." He spoke in a challenging tone, shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly and passed me a confident look.

"She's right." Adi's meek voice caught our attention and we glanced at him. "She never loses." He told Liam in a low voice.

I could not help but laugh loudly at the shocked expressions that were enveloping Liam's face at that time. In another instant, I quickly covered my mouth with the palm of my right hand when I realized that I was sitting in the hospital and my loud laughter was probably disturbing the patients in the next room.

Shifting uncomfortably on the bed, Liam cleared his throat awkwardly. "What are you looking at?" He sneered at me, ignoring Adi's comment and pointed towards the cards in my hand while continuing, "Just do your job." He ordered me and the corner of his lips lifted a bit, forming a small smile while I bit the inside of my cheeks to stifle another laugh.

The first round of the game finished as soon as it had started and Liam lost that game to me, terribly. Trust me when I say that I had never seen anyone lose so fast and so bad. Accusing me of cheating like a five years old kid, he asked for a second round, which he lost again and he seemed to be having a hard to believe it. It acted as a source of entertainment for Adi since he did not stop giggling and laughing all through that while.

"You wanna play another round, loser?" I teased Liam, stretching the word 'loser' and Adi and I started chuckling after that.

"Do not call me that," Liam spoke in a whispering voice, staring right into my eyes while I scoffed.

"What? Loser?" My tone hinted at sarcasm and Adi let out another chuckle while Liam and I continued staring – the friendly staring – at each other.
