So. Lifespans huh? The ones you can see above a persons head with the Shinigami Eyes. In shinigami years that is.

You can actually calculate the human years with some math thing. It's out there on the interwebs if you wanna try it out. But I thought I'd mention some stuff.

Only L and Light have lifespans that are able to be  calculated into human years.

Here's Ls shinigami years

Here's Ls shinigami years. This is before Light changed his years by killing him, he would have been over 80. But if he had better health he'd probably live longer.

Here's light, he'd also be over 80

Here's Mello

Here's Mello. People have tried to calculate the years but it doesn't add up, so either he uses a different equation or the animators just put random numbers and didn't give it any thought.

And Nears, you can't calculate his either

And Nears, you can't calculate his either. What's distressing about his is how small it is, only 5 digits compared to everyone else. Either this is just random numbers the animators put there because they didn't think about it or...

He died young.

Maybe the head canon of him killing himself after the kria case to be with Mello, Matt and L has some truth...

Or it could just be the animators not caring.

There are others but they can't be calculated. And for some reason we never saw Misas. All the frames only show her name. Maybe because he did the eye deal twice idk.

Here's some ways to calculate them.

Divide the number by 70 (If the number is larger than four digits, take the first 4 number. Ex. 17680.7, just take 1768)

This one doesn't always work, it worked with light but got different results to other methods. Or theses this one that it's a bit more accurate according to the internet.

form the lifespan into a number (e.g: Lights is 93312639, make that into a number like this: 933,126,39)
divide it by 3556
What we find we divide it by 365

I just thought I'd say that for fic reference when you are writing someone's lifespan.
