Hc: you can't take L to a park bc he won't sit still.

L said it himself. He's childish.

So you've picked up on some small things he does that resemble that of a child. He swings on the handles on trains, challenges you to races to the end of the hall, slides down the stairs with the lid of a storage container, makes pillow forts, spends hours colouring in. He's basically just a super tall, suspect smart kid.

So you wanted to try something. How childish was L? So, you decided to take the 23 year old to a playground to see how he reacted. He was always so serious, but if he is as childish as he claims, maybe that act would drop at the sight of a slide. So you dragged him out to eat at a cafe one afternoon and on the way back, you stopped at the nearby park.

If just so happened to be empty. And there just so happened to only be one swing.

"Where are we going?" L asked.

"To the park, I don't really wanna go back to working just yet" you replied.

"Me too honestly..."

That's when his eyes met the empty swing. You looked at him, he looked at you, you both looked back at the swing. And without a word exchanged, the both of you were off.

But thanks to L's long limbs he got to it first and threw himself onto the swing.

"Not fair you're faster than me!" You laughed.

"Not my fault" he sassed back.

He kicked his legs back and fourth, making the swing reach heights that made the chains go slack at the top. You glared at him and accepted defeat, walking through the sandpit to the money bars where you climbed your way to the top and sat with your legs on the bars.

"You're gonna fall off of you keep going that high!" You said.

"I've been doing this since I was 4 I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing!" He replied, kicking the branches above him as he swung.

You laughed and shook your head. What a child.

"Jump off!" You challenged him.

Without a second thought he threw himself off the swing and he landed in the sand with a thud, on his feet but then fell back and landed on his back.

"Good job"

"Shut up" he sassed, getting up and brushing all the sand off.

He walked over to the monkey bars where you Sara be pulled himself up onto them, managing to squeeze between two bars and sit on top of them.

"How long has this park been here?" He asked.

"Like three years? It's massive how can you miss it?" You replied.

"I dunno, guess I just don't come this way that often. I don't understand how I can miss it with a massive sandpit, swings, slide and- A SPINNY THING!"

You watched as he jumped from the top of the money bars and scrambled over to the pole in the sand that had a small platform on it, he jumped onto it and began to spin himself around. Such a child, so exited by a spinning pole.

"Hey let me on to!"

You jumped off the money bars and jumped onto the spinny thing with him. Neither of you actually knew what it was called, but 'spinny thing' was an appropriate enough name. It was probably an odd sight to anyone passing by, two fully grown adults spinning at the speed of light in a kids playground, laughing their asses off.

"Lean outward and then back in and it will speed it up!" You said.

You both leaned back as far as you could and pulled yourselves back in, making it spin even faster.

"Ah shit!" L laughed, almost losing his footing.

"Don't fall off! You'll hurt yourself going this fast!"

You played on the spinny thing until you both got dizzy and had to get off, and stand there for a minute until your vision fixed itself.

"Oh jeez I think we went too fast" you giggled, your vision all wobbly.

"Yeah maybe that was a little fast..."

Once you both got your normal vision back you'd both jumped to trying to run up the tall, steep slide in one go. It was proving to be kind of difficult when your shoes were covered in sand.

"No wait I got this!" L said, proceeding to jump onto the slide and try to climb up it, but he couldn't get a good enough grip and just slid back down into the sand.

"Nice try" you sassed.

"You try then"

Little did he know you were wearing new shoes, ones with a good grip. So you ran up the slide no problem. It took him a second to realise it was your shoes that gave him the advantage.

"Not fair! You have good shoes!"

"Come on loser, get up here"

"Screw you and your fancy shoes I'm getting up there, move over"

This time, thanks to him managing to grip onto one of the poles, he made it to the top with you.

"See? Told you"

"I got here first"

He just scoffed and shook his head.

"Don't rub it in"

Suddenly your phone beeped. You pulled it out of your pocket, checking the message.

"Oh it's just Matsuda wondering where we are, I'll message him" you replied.

"Ok whatever I'm going on the seesaw and you can't stop me"

You laughed and let him go play. You opened your messages to read them properly.

Matsu: Hey were are you? You're late

You: yeah sorry, we're leaving soon. We're at the park.

Matsu: the park? Doing what?

You looked up to find L had stood on the middle of the seesaw and was trying to make the two ends balance. You took a sneaky photo of him and sent it to Matsuda.

You: just dicking around. L's learning how to surf on a seesaw

Matsu: I remember doing that all the time when I was little. L's such a child sometimes.

You: I know. We'll be back soon, don't worry.

With that you put your phone away and slid down the slide.

"We gotta get back, it's been ages" you said.

"Aww, but I like it here" the detective complained.

"I know but it's getting late"

He jumped off the seesaw and you both began to walk back to taskforce. That's when you noticed a sly smirk on his face.

"What?" You asked.

"First one back to taskforce wins bragging rights"

Such a childish loser. You loved it.

"You're on"
