Head over heels

Head canon: you're so in love with L, everyone can tell... expect L.

He's so cold... and harsh. But my god did you love it.

You knew there was a cinnamon roll in that cold dead heart somewhere. You were so in love with L it hurt. And it was painful to the taskforce too because while they all just KNEW you would die for L, L had no idea.

You'd do anything L asked, you talked about him all the time, you did everything you could to get him o notice you. But he just wouldn't take the hint.

You lived and breathed L. And yet he was oblivious.

No matter what you did, he didn't realise. It wasn't only pissing you off, it was pissing Misa off. She would always urge you to go flirt with him and when he stayed oblivious she wanted to bang her head on the desk in rage just watching it.

How could he be so stupid? Isn't he meant to be the worlds greatest detective?

You sighed, sitting out on your balcony, legs through the railing and kicking then back and fourth. What were you doing wrong? Why doesn't he realise what's right in front of him. It was cloudy, gloomy and windy, a good reflection of your current mood.

You were lost in thought of what you could do to make L take the hint, but it seems Misa was already on it.

You see, she went to go talk to you and when she saw you sitting outside all gloomy, she knew what was it about, deciding it was time to take action. She was marching down to the workspace, looking for L. She had a bone to pick with him.

"L WHATEVER YOUR NAME IS!"

L jumped at the sudden loud sounds and turned to see an angry blonde staring down at him, this time, it wasn't Mello out for blood because of a chocolate mishap, it was worse, a model out for blood.

"Yes...?"

"Have you ever realised how stupid you are?!"

"Wha-"

"I mean SERIOUSLY! Aren't you meant to be the worlds greatest detective?! Some super smart guy? And you can't even see how much you've been hurting (y/n)!" Misa exclaimed.

"Wait... what? What have I been doing to (y/n) exactly?" He replied.

"Wow you are stupid! How can you solve all these cases and not even realise THIS!"

L tilted his head in confusion. What was Misa on about? He was so confused.

"I mean I knew you didn't really have an emotion spectrum to begin with but damn/"

"Ok, I'm stupid, I get it. What have I done?" He asked.

"Only break (y/n)s heart over and over! Notice how she's not working right now? That's because she's sitting outside upset because of you!"

"You're not making any sense"

"OH MY GOD L! Take a fucking hint! She's extra nice to you, she does anything you ask her to, she always finds an excuse to be around you, SHES IN LOVE WITH YOU!"

"S-She's what..?"

Misa just sighed a frustrated sigh and clenched her fists.

"I'm the one that has to listen to her talk about how cute you are and how nice you are to her, I know firsthand how much she admires you and you just can't see it! She's been flirting with you for months! She's been trying to get your attention since you met her! You seriously have to acknowledge it and talk to her, even if it's to let her down, you have to address it and not break her again in the process. I'm sick of watching you unknowingly make her upset, SHE LOVES YOU L. L-O-V-E LOVES YOU. SHE WANTS TO HUG YOU AND KISS YOU AND GO ON DATES AND PROBABLY BANG YOU TOO, GET THAT IN YOUR HEAD!"

With that, she turned, and stormed upstairs to your room.

Leaving L very very shooketh.

Misa went up to your room and sat beside you on the balcony.

"You ok?" She asked.

"Yeah..." you sighed.

"So um... I know I said I wouldn't but... I kind of went off at L"

You whipped your head around to look at her.

"You what?" You said.

"I was getting so sick of him breaking you down and not knowing it so I just... spat it all out. I'm sorry"

You knew she didn't mean it, and something probably triggered her to do it, she had no ill intentions.

"It's... it's fine. I guess it's better that he knows now. Maybe he'll actually take a hint this time"

"God how is he the worlds greatest detective when he can't even see that a girl likes him?" She scoffed.

"Well, I don't think L has a lot of experience with dating. Which is kinda cute and all but it's also kinda frustrating"

"I know, sorry again for spilling but it was seriously getting out of hand. I'll let you continue glooming, maybe he'll finally grow a pair and come talk to you about it"

She got up and left, leaving you in your own thoughts. You watched the sun go down, not moving form you spot as you thought about what to do about the whole L thing now that he knows.

And just like Misa predicted, he showed up.

"So... you're in love with me?"

You froze, hearing his voice behind you, you slowly turned to face him and awkwardly smiled.

"Y-Yeah kinda..." you replied.

He sat, well... crouched down next to you and have you a guilty look.

"Maybe I am an idiot... I should have realised. Now that I think about it, it all makes sense"

"Well... I can tell you obviously don't know much about dating so..."

"True... but I still should should have figured it out. How long have you been trying to get me?" He asked.

"Like... since I met you"

He was silent for a moment.

"Wow... I am an idiot"

You giggled, you wanted to reassure him and say he's not but he kind of was in the love department.

"Misa said, quote 'she wants to hug you and kiss you and go on dates' is that true?"

"Well, that's kind of what being in love is" you replied.

"She also said something about banging"

Your face went red, damnit Misa.

"I-ignore that, she's just being mad... n-not that I don't want to- I mean... uhh"

"I...I get it"

It was silent for a moment.

"So... are you gonna kiss me or something?" He said.

"W-wait, are you actually accepting my feelings?" You replied.

"Why wouldn't I? You obviously love me, and you're an amazing girl... not to mention my first friend, and you're obviously very dedicated to me, I'd be stupid not to say yes-"

Before he could go on, you grabbed his shirt collar and pulled him into a kiss, finally being able to let out all your bottled up feelings. He was shocked at the sudden action, but after realising what was happening, he accepted your kiss and eased into it.

While all that was happening, the same blonde that yelled at the detective before was watching from the doorway.

"Tch, about time"
