A/n: honestly idk what this one is I'm sick up the the point where a can't talk and I have too much time on my hands.
Head canon: none for this one.
Where had misa dragged the taskforce out to this time? The shops? A park? The movies? Nope.
The zoo.
Yes, the zoo.
Taskforce really did like to argue about everything. So she decided to get them out and about, and when she heard the zoo was having a discount day, she jumped at the change to drag everybody out.
You see, it's not that L didn't like the zoo, it's the fact he had to deal with the taskforce too.
"Awww look at them!" Misa cooed, watching the fairy penguins swim around in their habitat.
"They're so cute!!" Matsuda added, watching I'm fascination like a little kid.
L wasn't looking at the animals though... there was a gate right next to the penguins that lead to the Australian animals section.
It was set up so that all the deadly animals were inside a separate room for viewing and all the harmless animals were out in the open behind to gate. You could walk around and even pet some of them, there were a few kangaroos lounging in the sun. Some quokkas hopping around and some numbats scuffing about.
But is wasn't the animals he was looking at.
It was the girl holding a wombat, surrounded by interested kids telling them all wildlife facts.
He never thought the zoo of all places was the place he'd fall in love but would you look at that, here he was.
That girl was the prettiest girl he'd ever seen. She had (h/l) (h/c) hair, sparking (e/c) eyes and stood to be just a little shorter than him is he were to actually stand up straight. She smiled brightly and you could tell she loved her job.
L looked over at the taskforce who were all too invested in the penguins to even notice he'd begun to wander off. He pushed the gate to the Australian habit open and closed it behind him. The first thing he was met with what a very curious little kangaroo.
It hopped over to him and looked up at him, sniffing the air around him. He bent down to get a closer look at it.
The animals in this habitat were obviously very used to being around people, so the kangaroo wasn't scared, just curious as to why the tall human that just walked in smelt so sweet.
The kangaroo nudged the detective with its head, like a dog who wanted to be pet. He have the kangaroo a scratch behind the ears, knowing full well that within this fenced off area he was allowed to.
It seemed that all the animals within close proximity wanted some attention too.
Why he was such an animal magnet he didn't really know, but a quokka hopped over to him and held out its paws, wanting some attention.
You waved the group of kids off and put your wombat down, watching it walk over to the man sitting on the floor surrounded by animals.
"Wow... they've never done that before" you said to yourself.
You walked over and sat down opposite him as he greeted the wombat with a pat on the head.
"You must be a Disney princess in disguise because these animals are just flocking to you" you giggled.
Your voice got his attention and when he looked up and saw the cute girl he'd been watching, he almost jumped out of his skin.
"I- I don't exactly know why they all just decided to come say hi" he replied.
