Louise's POV
"You cannot be serious!" I gasped. "I can't do that. Do I look like a healthy individual to you, Ed? Do I?"
"Well, yeah." He chuckled. "You do." I didn't want to bring thoughts of the possible cancer scare back to surface as we were still unsure, so decided not to mention the fact that if I did have cancer, I was definitely not healthy.
We were both standing in front of the one and only Statue of Liberty. Ed, of all people, expected us both to climb to the top. Was he a mad man?!
"You'll be fine. I'm sure it's easier than it looks." Ed assured.
I just stared at him. Was he being serious?
"What?" He asked confused.
"Are you insane?!" I yelled. "Easier than it looks." I muttered. "Don't make me laugh."
"Hey, if I can do it, so can you, missy."
"Don't missy me, Edward. And believe me, you will not be able to do this." I told him.
"Negativity, Lou. Negativity." He shook him head.
"Fine." I gave in. "But if I die, it's on you."
My last remark brought an unpleasant look to Ed's face. I could tell he was thinking about the cancer.
"I didn't mean..." I trailed off.
"No no, it's fine." He forced a smile on to his face. "Can we forget about it for today?"
The fact that he referred to the cancer as 'it' made me feel anxious for some reason. Heck, we didn't even know if I had it. Just because my mum had it, didn't mean I would as well. We were both being paranoid, right?
"Yes. Please." I nodded.
"Good, now let's get climbing!" He said with enthusiasm.
"Oh joy!" I groaned, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
"You're excited really." He grinned.
I was about to deny it when I realised he was right. I was excited. I was in New York and was about to go to the top of the Statue of Liberty! And I was doing it with the person I cared about most in the world. The person I loved, even if he didn't know I did.
I think we must have climbed up about 3 floors before we gave up. So much for climbing to the top.
"You're so fit and healthy, Ed." I smirked as he panted for breath.
"Shush you." He poked me in the chest.
"Abuse!" I yelled, jokingly.
"No, this is abuse." He smirked.
"Wh-" I began before I started erupting in laughter. "Ed!"
Even though he was breathless, he began to tickle me causing me to fall down in a fit of laughter. His fingers made their way all around me, causing different parts of my body to jump up from the floor.
"Ed! Stop!" I giggled. Why was I so damn ticklish?
"Only if you say that climbing up here wasn't a stupid idea!" He grinned as he continued to simultaneously tickle me.
"It wasn't stupid!" I immediately replied and the tickling stopped. Ed smiled triumphantly to himself.
"That's what I thought." He grinned.
"Lift?" I suggested.
"Agreed." He nodded even though he literally just forced me to say that climbing wasn't stupid.
