Ashen flapped her wings, staying as close to the vent as possible. Grenade and Whisper balanced on her back and she prayed that they didn't fall off.
She felt claws prick her pelt before the pain left and she heard Whisper slam into the vent. She extended her claws and began to unscrew the screws. She smiled and Grenade leaped beside her. He did the same thing on the other side but he was a lot quicker than Whisper. They finally opened the vent and it fell to the ground.
Grenade and Whisper pushed themselves in and Ashen smiled, worried that this plan would backfire. "Be careful," she warned as she continued to flapped her wings to keep herself upward.
"Don't worry," assured Whisper as she beamed. "We'll be safe."
Whisper romped forward and Grenade grasped her tail suddenly, to keep her from taking a step and plummeting down into who knows where. Ashen held her breath and let out the breath when she realized that Whisper was alright. Whisper took a step backwards and dipped her head to Grenade in appreciation.
"I'll keep an eye on her," vowed Grenade as he looked over his shoulder at Ashen.
Ashen forced another nod and licked her lips. She turned and lowered to the group. She plastered her wings back against her flank and took a step forward. She just prayed that Whisper and Grenade would be alright.

Grenade pushed forward through the duct work. Whisper followed and he kept his tail on her shoulder so that she'd know where he was in the dark. He used his whiskers to sense the area around him. He let his eyes adjust to the lack of light and his fur buffer against the cold air rushing past his pelt.
"I'm starting to regret this," confessed Whisper as she pushed up closer to Grenade, his tail now draped over his shoulder.
"We'll be fine Whisper," he promised as he halted and changed his direction. He pricked his ears as he tried to feel for where things may be.
"Do you even know where you're going," glowered Whisper as she felt the cold air make her own fur stand on end. For the first time ever she wished that she was back at her cage with Pallid.
"No but I have a feeling that I will in a bit," he replied as he continued stalking forward as his claws clicked against the ground. He suddenly halted as he sniffed the air. Gunpowder. The cool air was bringing the scent of it right to him. "Eureka!"
"You found something," breathed Whisper brightening. Before Whisper could have her question answered Grenade surged forward. Every time he took a step he felt like he'd fall through. Luckily his fears weren't justified and he continued forward. He halted at one vent and looked through the small slits in the vent. "Look down there!"
Whisper panted as she pressed up against Grenade and looked to where he was pointing his claws. His claws extended and Whisper realized he was pointing to a stock of weapons. There were whips, guns, knives, and spears. She held her breath and she gulped a bit.
"I take it you need those things," sighed Whisper as her tail drooped.
"No," answered Grenade and Whisper's ears pricked in interest. She watched as Grenade worked on the screws and tore them out of the wall. The vent fell and he pushed himself out. He leaped onto a desk and a glass feel on the ground, shattering. Grenade flinched a bit and held his breath in case some Terran came running.
To his relief no one came and he continued forward. He leaped from the desk to a chair and prowled toward the guns. They weren't concealed or in any protective covering and Grenade was surprised. He tapped a claw against the barrel of the gun and felt how cold it was. He shook his head and began rummaging through a box of spare parts.
