Grenade led his two new companions to the social circle or that's at least what the creatures called it. It was really just a large white space with a few things for the younger ones to climb and jump over. There were different areas where different creatures spoke. Some were just shes and others were just toms while some were a mixture of fathers who had lost their families or even some of just a wide mixture.

Grenade never really had one specific group. He sort of floated from group to group, seeing which one he wanted to be with on that day. However he knew that Ashen and Somber were probably wolves he wanted to stay with and be friends with.

"Follow me," he instructed as he padded past a few foxes who were talking with their heads hung. Ashen tried not to stare at all of the creatures since she knew that she would probably turn out exactly like that soon but it was hard. With all of the cybernetic implants and extra joints and bones it was hard not to stare. Some of them were so emaciated that Ashen could count all of their ribs.

"Don't stare," chided Somber as he pushed his head gently against Ashen's shoulder, careful to avoid the injections.

"Sorry," she mumbled into her chest fur as she continued forward, her head lowered into her shoulders. She didn't want to be rude but she couldn't believe that the Terrans were doing all these things to them. Didn't Terrans understand they were beings too? They lived and breathed just like them and even had feelings! They didn't deserve to be tested on.

"Most of them were brought here when they were young, just like you two," meowed Grenade over his shoulder as he shot glances at some of the larger canines that were eying Ashen and Somber as if they were fresh meat. "They have been here ever since. They've been tested, tortured, deprived of food and water. They've been living like this for years."

"It's a wonder they don't take their own lives," muttered Somber, half to himself.

Grenade just gave a grunt and pressed forward. He padded toward a corner and sat down. He began to give himself a quick grooming, his tongue rasping over his shoulder and the cybernetic implants as if it was nothing. Ashen and Somber stared in awe.

Grenade realized he was being watched and twitched his ears. He smiled a bit and continued his grooming. "Eventually the pain goes away. It just takes a while."

"Do you still have go through surgeries," asked Ashen as she looked at the cybernetic implants poking from his shoulders and back. They looked extremely painful Ashen wondered how those couldn't hurt anymore.

"Yes I do," he confessed as he closed his eyes and his claws extended. Ashen realized that even though Grenade didn't show it those surgeries were taking his toll on him. "Once a week I believe. The next step is they're trying to get me to walk like them."

"Like on two legs," snorted Somber in amusement as he rolled his eyes. "Why in the name of Starbound would they care how you walk?"

"Lupus knows," muttered Grenade as he lashed his tail and curled it in a way that made Ashen's stomach churn.

"Your tail really shouldn't move that way," Ashen commented as she wrinkled her nose in disgust.

Grenade smiled and waved his tail even more in the same horrid angles and curves. "Yeah well thanks to these Cybernetic implants I can do just about anything with my tail and my paws. How many non-Terrans do you know that can hold a gun?"

Ashen shivered, knowing that was the weapon that had killed most her pack. "Not many," Ashen forced herself to answer.

"Exactly," purred Grenade as he raised a paw and brought it over his ear. "Don't worry. You'll be able to do these things soon."
