About a year past and Ashen and Grenade were making their lives in Xandar as enjoyable as it could be. They had taken up the profession of what they called, 'Borrowing for an extended amount of time without asking.' Grenade seemed to have a real knack for it while Ashen was always the distraction. It didn't seemed to matter who they needed to distract, they all just fell mesmerized by Ashen's appearance.
They had found a backward alleyway that they had made their home for now. They had found some dog beds and that's what they slept on. They stole some meat from the local store when they were hungry and also were able to act pathetic around Xandarians and either would snatch the food or sometimes the Xandarians would just give them it. They both certainly weren't complaining. Who could with free food?
"Now that was perfection," rumbled Grenade as he licked his lips and savored the juicy taste of a Yilus's leg. A Yilus was a very large horse looking thing that Xandarians ate. Ashen had tolerated the taste but Grenade loved them. That had been their usual go to food.
"Couldn't have done it without you," pointed out Ashen as she made her way to her bed and plopped down, her muscles relaxing through her outfit. She then rolled on her back and pawed at the air. "Another peaceful day in Xandar."
"Don't jinx it," snorted Grenade as he climbed into his own bed. The heat was beginning to get to the both of them through their clothes. "Besides if the Nova Core catches us we're in big trouble."
"It was only a few Yilus legs," reported Ashen as she rolled back on her stomach and extended her claws. She was glad her shirt wasn't long sleeved and that it cut off almost at her shoulders.
"Yeah and a few technological devices, and some units from pick pocketing, and the fake units we used to actually buy something, and-"
Ashen waved her tail to cut off Grenade. "Okay look I know we're not the best ones out there but there are those who murder others. We aren't one of them."
Grenade lashed his tail. "We're still wanted by the Nova Core. There is no way around that."
Ashen rolled her eyes and rested her head on her paws. "Do you think we'll ever have....more?"
"Greedy, are we," joked Grenade as he looked to her with his usual stern eyes.
Ashen shook her head madly. "No of course not. It's just that we're stuck here and when it rains we get wet and we're stealing for a livelihood. That's not exactly the plan I had for myself when I was a pup."
Grenade thought for a second before he grabbed a small device that a lot of the Xandarians used and padded out of the alley. Ashen followed reluctantly and watched as he looked up some things. "You know if I found some more weaponry I could start building my own again and selling them. That would bring in the units."
"Isn't that, you know, illegal?" Ashen leaned forward and almost rested her head on Grenade's shoulder. The tom now always walked on two legs unless they were being chased when he ran on two. Ashen couldn't exactly say she was fond of it but she was getting used to it.
Grenade looked over his shoulder at her. "You want units, or what?"
Ashen rolled her eyes and nodded. Grenade looked back to his pad as he swiped his pads down him. "Hmm idea stollen from a planet of Ronan. That wasn't very smart. It says to be an orb."
"An orb," echoed Ashen as she shook her head a bit. "Could you use that?"
"Probably," meowed Grenade as he tucked the small electronic device in one of his pockets. "It says that the one who has it is here."
"Do you think the Broker has it," inquired Ashen as she twitched her ears. Grenade had traded many things to the Broker however not all of them had been actually legal to sell.
