Ashen kept pacing and throwing her head sideways. He had been at least an hour and she hadn't heard anything from Grenade or Whisper. What if they were lost? What if they came across a Terran? What if something happened and they needed help?

"Calm down," chided Dish as he bounded to Ashen's side and pushed his head into her shoulders.

Ashen wanted to push him aside but she couldn't bring herself to do it. "Sorry," she muttered. "Just worried."

Dish nodded and padded forward so he could look up at the vent. "You shouldn't be," he barked as his tail wagged. "Grenade is the strongest and smartest cat I know and Whisper is so stealthy that not even a Terran could see her."

Ashen knew that Dish's words should have made her feel better but it made her feel worse. "I don't doubt that," murmured Ashen into her chest fur. "It's just that this plan is very tricky and nothing can go wrong."

Dish was about to answer when he pricked his ears. He had extremely sensitive hearing, just like most dogs of his breed, and turned his head toward the vent. "Listen," he ordered Ashen.

Ashen pricked her own ears and her own hearing was even more sensitive than Dish. She brightened as she saw Grenade's head poke from the vent. "A little help," he grunted and Ashen realized he was wearing something.

She shook her head to clear it and flapped her wings. She took to the air and brought herself to the vent. Grenade padded out with a large box. He pushed it onto her back and Ashen slumped a bit under the weight. She groaned and Grenade leaped onto her back, his claws extending into her back, right under one of her cybernetic implants. Whisper leaped onto her haunch and steadied the box with a firm paw.

Ashen turned away from the vent and landed. She bowed and the box fell from her shoulders and onto the ground. Grenade and Whisper leaped from her back and onto the ground.

"What are you wearing," asked Dish as he wrinkled his nose in disgust.

Grenade looked down and shrugged. "Just something we found," he replied as he turned and motioned Ashen toward the box.

Ashen romped forward and looked into the box. She saw numerous items that she had no idea what they were. She nudged one with her paw and Grenade hissed so she leaped back.

"Don't touch them until you know what they are," scolded Grenade as he shoved his ears forward. He took out a sphere object gingerly with a paw and set it on the ground. "This is a bomb."

"A bomb," echoed Whisper as he eyes widened. "And you had us deliver up a ventilation shaft?!"

"It was in a box," pointed out Grenade as he threw back the bomb into the box and Ashen half expected it to explode.

"What the heck is a box going to do," asked Whisper as she shoved her ears forward, baring her teeth in the beginning of a snarl.

Ashen leaped forward and stepped in front of the two quarreling felines. "Enough," she growled sternly as she looked at both of them, her head jerking back and forth. "Now we have to compose ourselves and come up with a real plan that will work tomorrow."

Whisper muttered and shrunk back. She then leaped into the box and pulled out what looked to be a larger version of whatever Grenade was wearing. Ashen twitched her ears as Whisper set it in front of her.

"Is this for me," she asked, praying that it wasn't.

Whisper smiled broadly. "Yep! Found it and thought you would like it."

Ashen exchanged a glance with Grenade and Grenade purred warmly. "I didn't think I'd like it either but here I am, wearing it and actually enjoying it," confessed Grenade as he turned his back and Ashen realized it hid almost all of his cybernetic implants. The only ones that showed were the ones on his chest and those ones were smaller and less noticeable than the ones on his back where the fur still hadn't grown back.
