Ashen woke up the next day and was pleased that the contraption had been taken off of her face. She turned her head and rumbled in enjoyment as Rocket sat beside her. When he knew that she was awake he immediately turned in his seat and looked to her with bright eyes.

"Well you're a sight for sore eyes," he teased warmly as he smiled broadly.

Ashen snorted in amusement. "At least you didn't see me yesterday," she joked. "I had a respirator on my face yesterday to help me breathe and that was a scary sight."

Rocket chuckled before his gaze traveled to her shoulder in a cast. "That's not from me, is it?"

Ashen knew that Rocket already knew so she looked into his eyes. His head hung and he sighed heavily. Ashen painfully stretched out a wing and tipped his head up. "It's alright," she assured gently. "It'll heal. It was just some shattered bones. Nothing that won't eventually heal."

"Eventually being the key word," muttered Grenade from Ashen's other side.

Ashen turned her head and saw Grenade padding forward and narrowing his eyes at Rocket. His tail dragged a bit as if it was limp and he couldn't feel it. He continued forward and hissed at Rocket.

"This is your fault," roared Grenade and he lunged for Rocket. He sunk his claws into Rocket's chest and blood gushed from the wound. Rocket howled before he kicked a stern leg against Grenade's stomach. He was thrown against Ashen's bed. Grenade snarled before he surged forward once more. He knocked Rocket from his paws and pinned him down, his jaws snapping dangerously close to Rocket's exposed neck. Rocket spat in Grenade's face and tried to push Grenade's face away with his paws but Grenade laid on his full weight and managed to sink his teeth into the side of Rocket's neck.

"Stop it," howled Ashen as she watched the two nearly try to kill each other when earlier all they had wanted was to help each other. If she could she would have lunged between then but she couldn't get out of bed now with an IV in her vein. "Now!"

Suddenly Dr. Orilus surged into the room and grasped Grenade by the scruff. He threw Grenade off of Rocket and the tom thrashed in his grasp, trying to turn and bite him. Rocket then surged back for Grenade but Dr. Orilus shot him a stern look and he retracted a bit, fuming in rage at Grenade.

When Grenade finally managed to calm himself down Dr. Orilus narrowed his eyes. "What has gotten into you?! You two just worked together to save the galaxy and now you're fighting like animals! Grenade you have just had surgery on your tail and some of your implants to make sure that they don't cause you trouble later. The last thing I need is you injured."

Grenade hissed before Dr. Orilus sat him down on Ashen's bed and Grenade curled next to Ashen's hind legs. Rocket swiped his tongue quickly over his wounds. He then leaped into the seat beside Ashen's bed. He glared harshly at Grenade and Ashen could feel the tension in the air.

Dr. Orilus shot Ashen a look. "Now if you can contain your two freak friends then I have other things to do." Ashen dipped her head and Dr. Orilus strode from the room.

Ashen then sighed to break the tension and looked to Rocket. "My shoulder should heal in time and even if I can't walk as fast I can still fly like the best." Her eyes glowed. Embarrassment flooded through her when Grenade and Rocket didn't say anything. "I will be fine."

Grenade twitched his ears and moved closer to her. He settled beside her head and purred as he rubbed his head against her cheek. "I'm so glad you're going to be alright," he breathed into her ear affectionately.

She rumbled back. "Yes I will be fine and I should be released later today if everything goes well."

"Then what are you going to do," asked Rocket hotly as his legs kicked over the seat. "Follow that piece of filth all the way to your death."
