Grenade's eyes flew open and he felt a pain he had never felt before. His muscles bunched and his claws extended in agony. He yowled and felt uncontrollable emotions pulsing through him. Hatred, grief, longing, loneliness. All of them made him want to bolt upward but he couldn't. He felt the pain rush through him from his tail to his claws.
"He's awake," gasped one of the Terrans, not The Torturer.
Grenade wailed and arched his back. "Stop! Stop! Please!"
All of the Terrans in the room froze. He had just spoke in a language that they understood. The Torturer smiled and looked a the vile of liquid he held in his hand. "It worked," he breathed in shock. "It actually worked!"
Grenade continued shouting, his tail lashing. He turned his muzzle up and let out an ungodly sound. He wished he could just die. This pain was just unbearable.
"Give him another shot of C-18 after you knock him out," ordered The Torturer as he continued just staring at Grenade.
Another Terran injected Grenade and once the liquid flooded into his system he fell back into unconsciousness.

Grenade awoke and found himself back in his crate. When he raised his head it fell back down. His eyes glazed over in agony and exhaustion. He vaguely remembered waking up in the middle of surgery but it was a blur. He knew that he had only been awake for a fear heartbeats but it felt like a few years. Now he just wanted to rest.
"Hey Grenade," whispered Somber as he leaned forward and pushed his head against his crate so that Grenade could hear him more.
Grenade groaned a bit, trying to stand but he fell backwards, his hind legs throbbing. "Yes Somber," he rasped, painfully aware at how weak his voice sounded.
"Did you really do that," asked Somber in shock.
"Do what," grumbled Grenade, the unbelievable pain in his body making anger pulse through him. He didn't want to snap at Somber but he just wanted his pain to ebb away but for some reason this surgery was worse than the others.
Somber rolled his eyes, knowing that Grenade knew what he was talking about. "The news is traveling through here quicker than a rabbit being chased by a fox!"
"I don't know what you're talking about," muttered Grenade as he closed his eyes and tried to get up again. He failed miserably and swore under his breath.
"You spoke," Somber barked as he thrust a paw against the ground. "Terran talk. You spoke so that Terrans could understand you."
Grenade didn't really feel like that was an accomplishment. "Yeah well I didn't mean to. I was in a lot of pain and awake when I wasn't supposed to be."
"I know but that's still great! Maybe you can tell them to release us-" began Somber but Grenade cut him off.
"No way! I'm ashamed that happened and now I think they're going to try to inject others with whatever they did with me and that's not what I want," he hissed as he turned his head away.
"Others," echoed Somber with round eyes. "What do you mean injection?"
"They have this new injection that I think they inject right into the brain. It can't be taken out. It's like learning a new language in a few heartbeats," Grenade explained as he rolled his eyes. "What's done to me can't be undone."
"You know that Ashen was in surgery after you," Somber pointed out darkly. "Maybe they injected her with the same thing."
"I wouldn't be surprised," confessed Grenade. "I just wish that we were the only two to receive it."
"And why is that," pressed Somber as his eyes widened in trouble.
Grenade sighed heavily, his chest heaving. "Because now that they know that we can communicate with them they'll never leave us alone."
