A few days later everyone was getting ready to eat whatever slop the prison fed them. Ashen carried her slop with one of her wings and listened intently as Rocket told them what they needed.

"I need that guy's leg," Rocket told Peter and Ashen looked at the prosthetic device.

"Why," Grenade dared to inquire.

Rocket shot him a sideways glance and Grenade held back a bit against Ashen. "I just do. Can you get it for me?"

Grenade and Peter exchanged to look and then shrugged. Ashen knew what they were going to get.

"The guards have armbands that control their ins and outs. I need one of those also," Rocket listen and Ashen saw Gamora's eyes lock on it.

"Anything else," pressed Ashen as she set her food down on the ground and debated whether or not to dig in.

"Do you see that pad on behind you. Yellow blinky light, see it," asked Rocket and all heads turned and they all nodded. "There is a Cornex battery under it and I need that too."

"How are we supposed to get it," asked Peter in disbelief. "It's twenty feet up in the most heavily guarded sector in the place."

Ashen suddenly noticed that Groot wasn't with them. "Where did Groot go," asked Ashen as Grenade sat beside her.

"I don't know," he confessed as he swiveled around a bit and lashed his tail. "That can't be good though."

"So figure it out!" Rocket snarled at Peter and Ashen thought she heard someone fall behind her but she couldn't be sure. "Get back to me on that, thanks."

Ashen turned her head some more and saw Groot by the tower. "Um guys," she began but she realized no one was listening.

"When you take the battery out everything is going to slam into shut down so you definitely want to get that last," Rocket told them sternly.

Suddenly doors slammed, lights flashed, and alarms sounded. Everyone turned to see Groot, holding the battery and smiled as it he had done the best thing ever. Ashen's jaw dropped and she knew now was as good of a time as ever.

"Or we could just grab it first and improvise," Rocket corrected as he threw his fists up in the air in frustration.

"I'll get the armband," grumbled Gamora as she turned and bolted and Ashen shrugged.

"I'll help," she offered as she bounded after Gamora.

"Leg," decided Peter reluctantly as he turned and bolted.

Grenade was deciding what he should do when suddenly numerous flying devices flocked around Groot and began to fire at him and Grenade hissed. "I need a weapon," he muttered to himself as he looked around madly. His eyes landed on his foot and he grasped at his tray. He dumped the food out and took it in his paws firmly. He threw it the mechanical flying instrument and it instantly turned on him.

"Awe no," he meowed as hie eyes widened in fear. It fired at him but he was quicker and darted to the side. He fell harshly but kept going, tripping over his tail and skidding sideways. He managed to climb up the side of the cell and hid behind a wall as it continued to fire at him.

He looked over the corner but it was still going strong. He licked his chomps in despair. Suddenly he heard a snarl and when he looked he saw Ashen flying through the air and landing on the mechanical thing's body and clawed at it. The thing tried to shot at Ashen but she was quicker and thrust a paw into the mechanical instrument and it fell to the ground.

She leaped from it while fire and ash coated her fur. "You alright," she asked, her chest heaving with the effort.

Grenade stepped from the pole and took in a breath in relief. "I am now. Thanks Ashen," he breathed as he bounded to her side and weaved between her legs.
