Saving Peter

They made it to the Malano easily and Ashen continued taking the lead. She had never flown a ship before though so she saved that part of Rocket and Groot. They sat in the seats toward the front with Ashen, Grenade, and Drax toward the back.

"Can you track Yondu's ship," asked Ashen as she turned to a screen and began tapping things in so she wasn't completely useless.

"It's huge," called Rocket over his shoulder. "It's pretty hard to miss."

Ashen let his remark roll off her shoulder. She hadn't seen the ship so how would she now? She just looked to Grenade who turned in his own seat and looked at a separate screen. This was going to keep his mind off of the fact he would be traveling in a ship.

The Malano took off and they traveled through space for a bit until they arrived close to the Malano. Rocket set it on autopilot and swiveled his chair around and stepped out of it. Ashen followed him with Drax, Groot, and Grenade bringing up the rear.

They went to the belly of the ship and Ashen realized that they were going to need a plan. "Any ideas," she asked since she was pretty sure Yondu wasn't just going to give up Peter. However she wasn't even sure if Peter would still be alive. He was cunning though and she was sure he had thought of something, hopefully.

Rocket tapped his claws against his arm. "I do," he interrupted as he turned and lowered into a box, pulling out a large weapon. "Ta da!"

"What is that," asked Grenade as he stretched out a paw to touch it but Rocket hit it back. He thrust it back and twitched an ear.

"It's a weapon of my own design," boasted Rocket a bit with a grin. "It should do substantial damage to their ship."

"Is someone going to have to depart from the ship to be able to fire it," inquired Drax in his usual superior sounding tone.

Rocket laughed before nodded. "Yes of course and that's, big guy, where you come in!"

Drax's eyes didn't show amusement like Ashen hoped they would. "I am not a big guy. All of those on my planet are my size or bigger."

Rocket's jaw dropped a bit and his paws clenched into fists. Ashen knew this was a perfect time to interrupt them. "Okay then," she barked as she looked to Drax hopefully. "Can you go in a suit on the top of the ship and fire it, please?"

Drax nodded. "Of course large canine."

He never did learn her name yet. "Okay then the rest of us will be in the cog-pit and we'll transmit a message to Yondu. Rocket can do that since he had a commanding voice, I'll keep the ship steady so Drax can fire the weapon, Grenade will work the first weapons to get Yondu's attention, and Groot will be the overseer."

"Nice plan," agreed Grenade before he looked to Rocket. "Do you know what you're going to say."

Rocket gave a smile and pounded his fists against his hands. "Oh yeah! Don't worry. They'll give Quill over or regret it."

Ashen smiled before she wagged her tail. "Let's do this and hope it goes well!"

All of them manned their stations before Rocket maneuvered the ship in front of Yondu's giant ship. Grenade fired small shots to just rock the ship. He then nodded to Rocket who smiled and turned on the com.

"Attention, idiots!"

Ashen couldn't help but laughing a bit.

"This maniac on the top of the ship if holding a well armed destroyer, a weapon of my own design. If you don't hand over the prisoners he will fire. You have till the count of five!"

"Five," echoed Grenade and Ashen as their eyes widened in shock.

"I am Groot." Groot looked to Ashen but Ashen didn't know what he meant.

"Five! Four! Three! Two!"

"Rocket!" Peter's voice filled through the Malano and Ashen let out a breath of relief. Now that she thought about it blowing up the ship with Peter and Gamora on it wouldn't be that great.

"Hey Quill. What's up?"

"Rocket we figured it out, we're fine!"

Ashen and Grenade high-pawed and sat back in their seats, letting out a breath of relief.

"We'll be right over and then we have to talk." Ashen knew that didn't sound good but she could let out a breath of relief knowing that her plan had sort of worked. Next time she'd just have to work on execution.
