Grenade padded forward after the pink lady. He was horribly aware of the strange silence that had fallen over the group. After the right and what Rocket had confessed no one was really in the mood to talk. Actually no one really wanted to work with anyone anymore and Grenade was tempted to just leave with Ashen and they would be ridden of these jerks and idiots.
However the promise of 4 billion units was enough to make him stay on board. He wished that they would just sell the orb, collect the units, and be on their way. Hopefully that was what they were doing now but nothing ever seemed to go as planned.
He cast a glance over at Ashen and saw that her head was hung and her shoulders cocked backwards. She was still favoring her shoulder massively and Grenade wished he could help but there was nothing he could do. He veered over a bit to her and pushed his nose against her shoulder.
"You okay," whispered Grenade gently.
Ashen looked over and forced a smile. "I'm fine," she assured as she stretched out her neck and licked Grenade's cheek.
"I heard you talking to Rocket," Grenade meowed as his paws shuffled in embarrassment. "I didn't mean to eavesdrop or anything but I didn't want him to hurt you."
"Did you hear what we said," asked Ashen carefully. Her tail twitched and she prayed that he didn't since it wasn't pretty.
Grenade shook his head and kinked his tail over his shoulder. "No. I wish I did but I was too far back. Didn't think I should interrupt that."
"Yeah that could have been bad," agreed Ashen as she shook her head. "Anyway I just told him until he fixed his anger problems and apologize for what he did I don't want anything to do with him."
Grenade gave a small nod. "We'll see if he really wants to be friends or if he really is the monster he said he was."
Ashen was about to say something else but they had arrived at a darker part of Knowhere. Then again the whole place was dark but this place was a creepier.
"Keep close to me," murmured Ashen as she lowered her head a bit. "There's safety in numbers and no one should go after you if you're with a wolf like me."
Grenade was about to say that he could take care of himself but he liked that she cared so he just dipped his head. "Thanks." He pressed close to her and they continued to a large part of Knowhere that Ashen hoped the buyer lived close since she didn't want to travel much further.
The pink lady led them into a a large building that seemed dark and dingy. Ashen licked her lips in fear before she forced herself forward, her fur prickling all over her body. Grenade kept close to her and she kept close to Peter. Peter looked to make sure everyone was there before they pushed in. Ashen held her breath.
They walked through a long hallway and Ashen could smell other creatures in there. She suddenly halted but Grenade pushed her forward. "Don't freeze now," Grenade told her and Ashen gulped before forcing herself forward.
Her tail trailed on the ground while her eyes adjusted to the lack of light. She heard the sound of creatures moving around and her stomach lurched. There were animals in large cages all over the place. She was about to bolt forward when a strange looking creature padded toward Gamora and kissed her hand.
"Let's skip the formalities," Gamora reported dryly. "We have what we discussed."
His eyes automatically gleamed and he turned. They continued to walk down a long hallway and creatures were locked in large glass containers. The breath was caught in Ashen's throat and her eyes burned as she fought back tears. She had been just like this at one time.
