ZEKE POV

I was jerked out of my slumber by a sharp scream. I shot up from the couch, stumbling. Uriah was now standing, squinting his eyes in exhaustion. Tris was kicking and thrashing. Releasing ear piercing screams. I rushed to her side before grabbing her hand. "it's okay babygirl. I'm here, Ezi's here," I said, trying to calm her down.

"NO! NO! PLEASE DON'T!! DON'T TOUCH ME!" She shrieked, yanking her arm hard. The IV was yanked out and blood squirted from her new open wound.

I grabbed her arm and Uriah slammed on the help button. I held it to the mattress as gently as possible to keep her from hurting herself further. She screamed louder, kicking and thrashing. "DON'T DO THIS! GET AWAY!!" She shrieked.

I flinched. She was having a flashback to that night. I heard the door click open and the nurse entered. She quickly swung into action. She retrieved a vile of something. "Steady her arm," She told Uriah, who obliged immediately. She pressed the needle into her skin and Tris began to stop screaming and thrashing, her screams becoming mere whimper and twitches. My heart was breaking at the sight of how much damage the son of the bitch who committed the despicable action had done to her.

When I find out who did this, they'll be dead.

———-

The cops were talking to her. They were trying to job her memory. Uriah and I were sitting outside her room, waiting for them to finish. I found myself pacing, one hand stuffed in my pocket of my joggers, the other one running over the back of my neck nervously. Uriah was tapping his foot gently, it echoed in the empty hall. I looked at him briefly, and diverted my eyes back to the door. "How could we let this happen?" Uriah said, breaking the silence that filled the room.

I stopped pacing and looked at him. "Uriah, I-.... I don't know," I said, tears pushing at my eyes hard.

"She was raped...... raped. We're supposed to be there for her, protect her. Yet this happened?" He mumbled.

"I know Uriah... don't you think I know?" I said, colder than intended.

"The fear she must have felt. The loneliness. Dammit Zeke were supposed to be there for her! Dads gone! And mom doesn't give a shit about us! We're supposed to be the people she can trust to be there for her!"

"Damnit Uriah! I KNOW!" I shouted, pushing over a chair, tears setting my cheeks.

"You think I don't understand what happened to her? What she went through? She had everything ripped form her by this son of a bitch. And no matter what we do, we can't fix this. She had everything taken from her."

"Zeke,-...... I don't know how we can help her."

"I know Uriah. I know man," I replied, pulling my little brother into a hug.

"How the hell do we tell four?" He asked.

"It's not for us to tell. When ri is ready, she'll talk to him."

"He's called 100 times already."

"I'll tell him to give it a few days. What happened to her isn't something she will want to share. She went through hell. She needs time."
————

The police walked out, shutting the door behind them. Uriah got to his feet and we looked at them expectantly. "We helped jog her memory. She seemed like she remembered something but she didn't want to share. She didn't talk. What she's been through is traumatic. It's hard to get much out of her. We see this a lot in sexual assault victims. If she tells you or the doctors anything don't hesitate to contact us. Here's my card," he said, handing me a small card

I took it, my mind going a thousand miles a minute. "Do you guys have any idea what sick son of a bitch would do this?" Uriah sneered.

"We're looking into it. We're going to need a list of everyone at the party last night. But the hospital is still running DNA. They're hopeful they can get a hit. If you guys need anything, don't hesitate to call," he told me, giving me a handshake before turning and leaving.

I looked at Uriah and he shook his head before looking at the ground. "Come on uri," I mumbled, pushing open tris door.

Tris was curled up on her side, facing towards the window. He body moved slightly as she sniffled.
"Ri, you alright?" I asked.

Why did I ask that. Stupid question. Of course she's not alright. Nothing about this is alright. She's not alright. She's broken.

She just took a stuttered breath. I sat down on the chair near her bed. Uriah sat on the edge of her bed. "Ri, were here for you," he said gently.

He gently ran his hand on her shoulder and she tended up. He removed his hand immediately. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't-....." he stopped, moving off the bed.

"Uri, why don't you go get some coffee for us?" I offered, trying to relieve the tension.

"Yeah.... I'll do that," he mumbled.

I could tell tris was crying by the stuttered movement of her chest. The door shut and I walked over to the other side of the bed to face her. She didn't look at me, not even a glance. "Talk to me ri," I said comfortingly.

She didn't move, she stayed laser focus on the window. "Tris..... they need to know what happened. They can't help if we don't tell them. "

She didnt talk.

"Tris, we're here to help."

She stayed silent.

"Please tris-"

She cut me off, "I remember it all. Everything."

I was shocked, my jaw fell open. "Did- I- did you tell the detectives?" I asked immediately.

"No."

"I'll go get them- they just left-"

"Zeke it was Mark."

I felt my body stiffen and heat raced up my body. Hot, surging anger. I wanted to scream. I had never felt this kind of hatred. This kind of cold need for revenge. Without registering what I was doing, I stood up and walked to the door, opening it and shutting it behind me. I was going to kill this guy.
