42. Change up

"Exciting news J" veronica chirps "what do you say about waitressing at an event. My friend Jonathan is opening his art gallery and you can make a lot money for serving wine and cupcakes. Toni is helping as well"
"That sounds great"

they both chatter as they walk down the hall with the other vixens after training, Cheryl leading the way. They prepared for the annual pep rally.
Students are making way for the group when Cheryl blows a kiss.
A normal school day.

But in Riverdale there's no such thing as normal, as Cheryl blossom discovers when she turned around to see her whole cheersquad laying on the floor. At the sight of them having a seizure Cheryl releases a heart-rending scream.

She immediately runs to Toni lifting up her head "Help! Help us! Somebody, help!"
People come to help, like Kevin who steps into the hall out of a dark room after his make out session with moose.

Or sweet pea and fangs leaving their locker open as they run to their seizing friends "Julia, shit" he holds her head
"Somebody call 911!" Fangs shouts.

~Julia's Pov

I wake up to muffled noises, i open my eyes, my vision still blurry.
"What is going on?" I sit up
Sweet Pea approaches the bed with big steps "Thank god you are awake. You had a seizure, the whole cheer team did" brushing a strand of hair out of my face.

"What? I thought those weren't contagious" confusion in my voice
"I don't know" fangs jumps unto the bed, now sitting next to me "But you are on strict bed rest now"

~The next day at rehearsal

We've already rehearsed 'america' and the jets and sharks intro songs.
"Loving it, next up your fave jules" Kevin smiles and so it's time for 'I feel pretty'. It's a scene with betty, Cheryl and Josie.

"Well done girls. This is working so good" Kevin sighs sinking down in his chair "I only need some romance now. Archie how about we rehearse some of your scenes?"

Archie jumps up on stage and we start.

"Living for this" Kevin seems touched and I chuckle but then I see sweet pea sitting in the audience looking kind of mad. When Kev releases us with the words "that's it for today, great work, see you tomorrow" I jump off the stage grab my things and walk towards sweet pea.

"Hey" I smile, hoping he would return it but nope. I gets up and walks away. I try catching up to him which is hard considering his legs are twice as long as mine. I eventually manage to pull him into a lumber room.

"You have literally no reason to be mad" I cross my arms looking up to him But as a response he chuckles a bit, shaking his head.
"Really?" He scoffs down at me "I don't really enjoy seeing my girlfriend kiss some other boy" he tilts his head narrowing his eyes.

"Actually, I didn't kiss Archie, but maria kissed tony. It's called acting"
"This bullshit" he murmurs
"Excuse me?"
Angrily he steps closer "Seriously-" he starts screaming but when he sees that I block my face and shut my eyes in fear he turns really quiet and his movement freezes.

"Julia... I would never do that- I would never hit you" his voice small and pained. Guilt flooded him. Shit.
"I know. I'm sorry I flinched" my voice so small. I can't even look at him "it was just a reflex... from... when my father..." I stutter. I see he wants to do something but doesn't. So I slowly walk up to him with small steps and hug him.

"Please don't think that about me" he finally puts his arms around me. Still a bit shaken I press myself against him burying my face in his chest when he lays his chin on my head.

"Oh" the door opens "I told you they werent doing it in here"
Confused I look to the door to see Cheryl and Ronnie.
"Are we interrupting?" Cheryl asks
"Nope" I pull away from sweet pea and together we walk outside the door, into the student lounge.

Entering the room the speaker goes on "attention, students, we are hereby closing the student lounge. Please, exit immediately. Moreover, any sports and extracurricular activity is cancelled effective immediately"

Walking back into the hall "they cancel sports, extracurriculars and they're shutting down the lounge. What is going on?" I'm irritated "I mean, is that allowed?"
"As student body President, please, tell me you've got insider information" Ronnie harasses Cheryl

She rolls her eyes "though my powers as dauphine of Riverdale high aren't absolute yet, I am CC'd on all school board emails, and they're having a meeting tonight. I think, to discuss shutting down the school. And veronica" facing her "your parents are leading the charge"
I walk away because this gets too personal.

"So, guess there's not gonna be a musical, meaning no kissing, meaning you don't have to get jealous" I smile while tipping on sweet peas chest.
"Guess so" he turns me around and touches my back as we walk down the hall. I'm trying to act calm when I'm still a bit shaken and I notice that he is more... careful, like when he touches me. Shit, what have I done.

~Friday

"I'm probably gonna be home late tomorrow. I'm working at this gallery thing. From Ronnie friend" I add as he seems lightly confused. I'm sitting on a table in our swords and serpents club room and my boyfriend is leaning against the wall next to me.

"I can pick you up, just text me when and where. I'm gonna be at this place in the woods f-"
"Place in the woods?" O raise my eyebrows
"Just to play griffins & gargoyles"
"I think it's a stupid game" chuckling
"Just cause you never played" he defends that game. Wow.
