86. Clean me up

The bus is sleek, running over the black tarmac so fast that the passing greenery becomes a hazy blur. The windows are beaded and the rain beats on the roof like some crazy drummer. Inside we are a curious mixture of cozy and bored, all of us itching for the destination that will come eventually. Until then we read, feign sleep, there are those who chatter, their voices rising and blending together in the sweet ritual of friends. Some absorb themselves in music, just like me.

Next to me Betty is sleeping, her head leaning against the seat in an unnatural way, while I listen to my music and stare out the window.

It seemed like an eternity but eventually we arrived at the little hostel. The rain had turned into little snowflakes, landing on our heads.

We get our bags and go to our rooms, it's not even that late but the long bus ride drained our entire energy. Luckily, we are just in time for dinner.

"I assume it's clear that TT and I will take the big bed" Cheryl throws her bag on the mattress.
"Sure" Veronica, Betty and I agree to take the bunk beds.

Not even bothering to change out of our sweat pants, we walk downstairs ready to eat.

"I'm so tired" I groan, sitting down next to my friends.
"You are always tired though" Archie looks up from his plate, loaded with food.

"True" i shrug my shoulders
"So, are you excited to go skiing tomorrow?" Betty seems excited, almost childlike.
Everyone agrees, nodding with smiles on their faces. I in fact am not that happy. I've never went skiing before and I'm pretty sure I will break at least one of my bones. Possibly all of them.

"Can I have your attention for a moment" our teacher Mr. Gregg and Mrs. Stanley are standing in the middle of the room, ready to announce something.

"We are really sorry" they start after everyone turned quiet "but there is supposed to be a blizzard tomorrow, so we have to postpone our first day of skiing. We are hoping it clears up and we will start the next day"

Disappointed moans fill the room. It's weird how storms are following me, at school, at pops now at our ski trip.
We eat up and go to bed.

The next day we watch the blizzard from the safety of the hostel.
In a moment the world became a snow-globe, one of those Christmas time ornaments children love to shake up and watch the flakes swirl in unseen currents.

The snow became so thick that the trees appeared as the confetti, as if they were the flakes that danced.

"What a tremendous view" Cheryl, in Toni's arms, looks out the window. Of course this was a joke because everything outside is grey and white. If I didn't know better, I'd say somebody pinned a paper in front of every window.

"There is nothing to do" Veronica sinks back on the couch of the community room.
"How about a good old card game. I think I saw UNO somewhere" Archie gets up and looks for the game.
"What an exciting time to be alive" my voice drenched with sarcasm.

Archie looks for the game whole the rest of us sits in silence. I pull my sock up, stretch my legs and get up.
My eyes once more land on the window covered in white while all eyes land on me. With just standing up I've become the most interesting thing in the room.

"Where are you going?" Betty asks as I start moving.
"To get ice cream or commit a felony. I'll decide in the car. I'm going to the bathroom" there is literally nothing else to do.

I shuffle through the room, approaching the door. And just one day ago when I said my goodbyes to jughead he was so sad that he wouldn't be able to go with us but instead study at stonewall prep. I had told him to suck it but now it sucks here, pretty hard. I guess that's karma.

Usually, we would have so much to talk about but nothing exciting happened and we've been together since we departed from Riverdale.

My hand lays down on the doorknob, about to turn it when I feel like someone is staring at me. I turn around and catch sweet pea looking at me. He half sits half lays on a couch, the rest of the serpents around him, goofing around.

He just looks at me with his dark brown eyes, a few strains of hair falling into his face. The careless look of grey sweatpants and a black hoodie makes him even more attractive.

His gaze confuses me, why is he just looking? How am I supposed to react? I don't know, so I just open the door and walk out, the sensation of his eyes on me still present.

After my bathroom break I pace back to the community room. Or at least I thought so. In fact I had gotten lost, wandering around the hostel that seemed to be much bigger than it appeared from outside.

Somehow I found a sauna and accidentally walked into several broom closets with stacks of pillows and piles of bed sheets.

Eventually I returned to my friends.

"Okay, gun to your head, Monopoly or Scrabble?" Archie holds the games in front of him.
"Gun to my head, I'd say pull the trigger" I sit back down on the sofa.

"Archie, they are already board games, I don't think it gets more bored" Kevin sighs dramatically and raises his eyebrows.

A/N: Bonjour, so there is no real serpent story line where I can place sweet pea and Julia but I could invent one because sweet pea is not really invested in what is happening with the core four. Any special requests? Rival gangs or something like this?
Or more Bret? ;)

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Love yall, byeee
