"So that's the plan? You'll just jump out the car and tell them to meet with the man in black" I chuckle eating my fries "If you say it like this it sounds stupid" sweet pea rolls his eyes "anyway, I should get going now" "Yeah, betty should be here any minute now. Be careful" he gives me a peck on the forehead and walks out the door.
Only a few minutes later betty slides into the booth in front of me... with veronica. Since the art gallery opening I didn't talk to her, because she was simply rude, introducing me as a waitress instead of as a friend. Great I'm not in the mood to confront her.
"Hey ju" betty smiles "Hi betty, hello veronica" I replied "Look I brought you here to make up" Betty starts and Ronnie continues "yes I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have behaved that way. All my old friends just reminded me of my former NYC life"
"It just felt like you were embarrassed to be 'friends' with me" I shrug my shoulders "I don't know what came over me, I'm really so so sorry I said that. Our friendship is way more important than my relationship with any of these people"
I don't want to throw a tantrum "it's ok. We all say stupid things sometimes. Let's just forget it" I smile as I take her hands in mine. "I can't tell you how relieved I am" she sighs happily "So there was something I wanted to talk to you guys about" a satisfied grin on her face "you know that I proposed to our school that we throw a Halloween party in 2 weeks"
"Isn't that a bit short?" I wonder "I already planed most the details,, they just need to be executed" V explains "The more important question" betty looks around "as what are you dressing up?" "Well, I thought about doing a couples costume with Archie" "Cute"
When I return to the serpents camping space I see fangs, jug and sweet pea sitting with a handsome guy with blue eyes and dark hair, I've never seen him before. "Hey guys" now standing in front of them
The handsome guy gets up "oh, hello" his flirty voice is interrupted by sweet pea who stands up while pushing the guy back down "back off Joaquin, she's mine" placing a kiss on my lips.
"I'm julia" "Nice to meet ya. Joaquin" he smiles "He helped us with our mission" jug explains "Got connections to the gargoyle gang" Joaquin adds. "Oh how'd it go?" I question "Great" fangs laughs satisfied

The Two weeks passed way too fast. Anxiety kicks in and I don't want to go to that party. I never celebrated Halloween and I don't understand why you do it. Something about scaring spirits away, but why are you going to strangers homes and beg for candy then. I just think it's kinda rude.
Now Varchie, jug, sweet pea and I are at bettys place getting ready. "I don't wanna go to that stupid party" I whine into sweet peas ear "I don't wanna dress up like an idiot but what can I say" sweets says and I look him up and down in his vampire costume. I chuckle "I think you look cute"
He pulls me up from bettys bed "Well, that was exactly the look I was going for" he jokes making me laugh even more. "Come on I'll glue on your teeth" Ronnie bought those and insists on us wearing them. "You're going to be the cutest vampire couple" were her words.
"Isn't the whole point of Halloween to look... well scary?" I ask when Varchie steps into the room dressed as Minnie and micky mouse. "Why look scary when you can look cute?" Ronnie smiles but when I look into Archies face I can't see that he feels the same.
Betty comes into the room with drinks on a tray. She and jug are dressed as Harley Quinn and the Joker. They really fit the look though. "Have you even seen that movie, Jones?" Sweet Pea frowns
"I have not" he replies "Gosh, you two are made for each other" Ronnie rolls her eyes at our comments. "Shall we go?" Betty is way to excited which is kinda sweet.
Arriving at schools gym we already see fangs and Choni waiting outside. We greet them, Choni dressed as witches, pretty sexy. "What the hell are you supposed to be?" I laugh looking at fangs "FBI. That's why it says fbi right here" pointing to his vest. "How ironic" sweet pea chuckles.
Inside Kevin jumps at me "omg Julia how cool" touching my fake teeth "Ronnies idea" I shrug my shoulders laughing. Then I get to take a closer look at his costume, he is just wearing a bulldog jacket. But it all clears up when moose approaches us... wearing a sweater "omg you're dressed up as each other" "Thank God, you're the first one who gets it" moose laughs.
Sweet Pea pulls me aside to the bar to get some drinks, and I can tell you it's hard as hell drinking from a cup with those Damn vampire teeth. "Say cheeesee" Toni briefly takes a picture of us and walks away.

The gym is decorated with orange and green festoons and black paper bats are hanging from the ceiling. The lights are low and some kind of fog wanders through the room.
On stage is Josie in her Michael Jackson costume performing thriller. It's a nice evening, drinking with my friends, dancing and just having fun. After about 2 hours I spot Joaquin approaching us.
Coincedintly he is dressed as a vampire as well. Standing next to the bar we get into talking. "Nice costume" I grin "They said I would be the only one" he laughs Next to us fangs and sweet pea are chatting.
Time passed, its about to be midnight and i start to notice that joaquin really is nice and funny. I know he was a serpent but I didn't want to question him about his personal things.
"So wh-" I want to ask but all of a sudden the lights go out "Is that a joke?" "Really funny" people shout "turn the lights back on" But nothing happens, probably just a power outage. But I'm not gonna lie, I have a weird feeling. Steps can be heard, when suddenly someone touches my shoulder.
"Oh crap" "Julia?" Sweet peas low chalky voice "You startled me to death" Sweet Pea starts talking but is interrupted by grunting. I feel something stroking my front and then falling unto the ground with a dull dumb. All at once the lights go on again and everyone is relieved. But when I look to my feet I release a loud scream.
Joaquin is laying on the floor, blood smeared. He must have stroked my front because some of his blood is on my hands and costume. Fangs kneels down "Joaquin, that's not funny, come on" but when he still doesn't move he searches for a pulse.
He quickly stands up "I- I can't feel...a I I can't feel a pulse" Sweet Pea who holds my shoulders from behind screams "somebody call 911"
When people start to realise what is going on panic breaks out, people are screaming and running away. After only 10 minutes the paramedics arrived and took care of Joaquin but it was too late.
"I'm sorry" they say "miss, would you come outside for a check up" looking at me. "I-I'm fine. That's... his blood, not mine" I gulp "i just need some fresh air" and with that I walk away from the crowd of serpents still standing inside the gym.
I run outside and turn around the corner of the gym next to the forest, pressing my back against the wall, breathing heavily. My head falls back looking at the sky "fuck" I look down at my bloodstained hands.
As I was just calming down I hear low noises and when I look up I see something coming out the woods...
