Spirit week had arrived at riverdale high and for the first time in years the students had actually something to celebrate...

"Come on, Ju. We need some help" Mia a fellow cheerleader touches my shoulder and I nearly let the phone slip out of my hands. Jughead wanted my opinion on the opening for something he is writing but I lock my phone and put it into my bag.

As the cheerteam we put up signs and decorations for spirit week.

"Cheryl, girls" our principle mr. Honey approaches us and as we see as we turn around, he is not alone.
"I'd like you to meet somebody" he points to the woman next to him.

"No time to chat Mr. Honey. After we finish putting up this sign we are on our way to practice our spirit week musical routine which will naturally be epic" the cheer captain pulls her big red lips in a smile and rests her hands on her hip.

"On that subject, as we discussed with Mrs. Burble, I brought in Miss Appleyard to be your new coach" the principle folds his hands and looks at Miss Appleyard, which is a pretty funny name if you ask me but well. Mrs. Burble is the therapy lady whose name I had forgotten. I have an appointment with her on Saturday.

"But cheer season is almost done, Mr. Honey" cheryl smiles, really passive aggressively and with a furious sparkle in her eyes.

"I can handle this, Holden" the small woman steps closer to our principle who apparently is named Holden Honey. It takes everything in me to not start laughing right now.

'Holden' agrees with a small "hmm" and walks past us, leaving Miss Appleyard alone in front of cheryl.
"I'm not sure what Honey has told you, but we don't need a coach. I run the show around here" her smile fades away "Howevs, we are looking for a launder woman" there it is again, this mocking, smug smile.

But miss Appleyard is not impressed "From now on we're gonna change things up. The vixens are a cheer squad, so we'll be focusing on cheers, not singing and dancing to pop songs" she announces with a determined voice. Which is terrible for me because I'm not really strechable.

"Now, gather the rest of the girls and meet me out on the field so we can practice some drills, okay?" She continues with a calm expression.

"I'm sorry, am I hallucinating, or did you just give me an order?" Cheryl touches her chest, offended.
"I led my last team to nationald three years in a row" appleyard replies "I think I know what I'm doing here."

Cheryl doesn't stand a chance and so we are out on the field 10 minutes later.

"Ok, so first of all I want to revive an old tradition which seems to got lost here" she shakes a box with small pieces of paper in it.
"In here are the names of our football players. Everybody will pick one. You are then his cheerleader, you can decorate his locker bake cookies for him and wear his Jersey to school the day of homecoming game" she goes around and everybody takes a paper.

"We abandoned this 'tradition' because it's sexist. We are not their slaves nor are we housewives in the 50s who have to do everything for their man" cheryl speaks up with a harsh tone.

"I think it's a sweet tradition and we did it when I was in school"
"Yeah, as I said, the 50s" cheryl whispers and the team starts giggling.

I grab a paper and unfold it.
Sweet pea.
"Toni, I think mine is wrong" I say, tapping on her shoulder and showing her the name on my paper.
"Oh no, it's right. He joined the team a while ago. Thanks to him and munroe they are in the finals." She says but I can see it in her eyes. She thinks it's destiny or some crap. Great, now I can bake something for my ex boyfriend. Hell nah, I'm not gonna bake.

"Let's start training" she claps.
Practice is harder than usual, very hard and I'm pretty sure I'll be all sore tomorrow. The idea of sweets as a football player wouldn't leave my mind. I never thought he would join the team. But he is good at basketball so I guess it's not that far-fetched.

When I get home after school I quickly finish my homework because I promised jug to go to a stonewall party with him and I need some time to get ready.

I decide to throw on something comfortable since it's just a highschool party and nobody knows me there.

"So I guess I can go to the store and buy some glitter to throw it on his locker" I fill jug in on all the news at Riverdale High as we walk inside"Oh and Cheryl has a new nemesis, the new cheer trainer-"

"Forsythe"
We simultaneously turn to look at Brett, this blonde dude from jugheads class who is kinda weird but not unattractive.

He waves us over to the bar where he is sitting with some other friends.
"Brett, this is Julia, you've met when I was invited to look at the school"

"Someone vacuum my lap, I think this girl needs a clean place to sit" He starts laughing and his friends join.
"I'm good" I reply, shaking my head, trying to hide my disgust.

Jughead starts a conversation with one of the boys, leaving me to talk with Brett.
"You're at Riverdale High?"
"Yes, you'll be playing against them tomorrow, right?"
"Yeah, I'm team captain. A chance for you to see real football" a smug grin plays around his lips.
"Sure" I smile sarcastically.

We continue talking and it's surprisingly not as unpleasant as I thought. Despite his tendency to make inappropriate comments, he's good to make conversation with since he's pretty intelligent and enjoys writing as much as I do.

"Ju, let's get something to drink" Jug says and drags me away to get a drink.
"Stop flirting with Brett" his face is stonern
"Ah, excuse me?" I blab
"Don't lie to me" his eyebrow raises.
"Why not? What is wrong with that?" I sip on my freshly filled glass.

"He is not a nice guy. Did that comment about you sitting on his lap bot bother you at all?" His head tilts, causing the brown curl hanging in his face to fall to the side.
"I don't know" I sigh, jug is always so overprotective. Plus he tends to exaggerate, so it can't be that bad.

"He is a player. Using girls and then throwing them away. His ex, Olivia, she is a really nice girl and she was totally in love with Brett. But after he got her to sleep with him he ended their 'relationship'. Now she is an outlaw basically being shunt." He seems to be serious and he is my best friend so I should trust him. But if he is such a bad person why is Jug friends with him?

My focus shifts over to Brett and the others "Jug, tell me I'm crazy but this girl looks like Ronnie in a bad blonde wig" I point at the girl with the blonde hair and short dress who just walked over to Brett.

"Veronica?" Jughead asks loud and the girl turns around.
