The sound of heavily armoured vehicles parking across the road
had gotten a family of three in silent panic. They knew they would come for their daughter once she's grown but they could never hand her over like that. They'd sworn to protect her from the ones that wanted to exploit all that she's capable of for their own twisted schemes.
"Quick, get to her grandmother's! Take the car and drive as fast as possible." The father kissed his wife and child a bittersweet goodbye, before leading them out the back door to escape the inevitable.
His wife had tears pooling greatly in her eyes as she carried their little girl into the car in absolute worry and fear. The child embraced her teddy bear, watching her panic-stricken mother turn on the ignition. The sound a gunshot echoed in the walls of their house and induced a sob from the mother, who had succeeded in getting on the road.
The ones that came after the child followed the car, aiming bullet by bullet at it. The mother and child screamed for their lives as the vehicles following them accelerated in speed.
Unable to control the wheel due to the panic building up, the car collided with one of the opposing vehicles and crashed.
The mother, wounded and barely hanging on to consciousness, reached out for her crying child and encouraged her to run along and never look back.
The child refused at first but hearing the opposing men approach their battered vehicle, the mother quietly whimpered to her child a weak "I love you" before letting her go free.
The crying child disappeared into the woods to continue her journey from there, ultimately reaching her grandmother's house undetected.

Your POV
Looking out the glass window of this high-rise Tony Stark once named after himself, I sigh against the crystal clear pane, vapor forming on the surface from my breath. I can't believe I've been recruited to defend the Earth along with its mightiest heroes, the Avengers.
I had a lot of things planned out just before any of this ever occurred. I thought I was finally gonna go on with a good job since I had just broken out of my manacles from college but instead I got the most dangerous one just because I caught the unnecessary attention of Captain America and Hawkeye when they were both under the mercy of some inter-dimensional beings.
Boy did it cost me my apartment and my normal life.
Scratch that, I meant apartment. I had to stay in a friend's house for days
after that. But I never had a normal life to begin with. I put my head against the pane and take in the splendid view the inhabitants of this tower are already used to. The skyline is breathtaking. This tower really overlooks everything in the city and most of the buildings look so minuscule compared to the Avengers Tower.Well at least the ones that haven't been turned to rubble due to the attack a few days back.
I still couldn't believe I jumped in to help the two of them wriggle out of one of the aliens' grasps. They had crashed into my apartment and brawled with the aliens and seeing as they were struggling for their lives, I drew an attack at the creature that sparked the interest of the two Avengers to offer me an opportunity to fight alongside with them.
And also 'cause I had no other place to stay in anymore because they brought the fight into my home. Luckily I wasn't required to bring in a resume for being voluntarily chosen.
